They've significantly reduced the training time agents get in the past year so they could grow the number and it shows. Overall average person in MN finds hauling humans away to be unfortunate, even troubling, to different degrees, but they see the changes in the state (not to the better) and the rise of enabled fraud that takes money directly and indirectly from them and their families, and other American and MN citizens, so they're not overly invested in the cause of illegals that have blatantly exploited them.

This is something that I feel people are failing to reconcile at scale. There are times when you need to do something that feels bad and tugs at your heartstrings in the interest of the greater good. Those are the hardest calls to make, and the people who make them always get a ton amount of flak. Human suffering viscerally makes me feel bad too, but it takes an understanding of how a situation abstractly hurts a ton of people in the long term to understand why sometimes inconveniencing some people in the short term is something that needs to happen.

I think it's kind of a self-report that these people have never had to make such hard choices, so they can merely follow their short-term empathy to all their conclusions. That's why hippies and idiots have always been able to rest comfortably thinking shit like "why don't people just like... not fight, man?"

It's like people calling for ceasefire in Gaza thinking that somehow that will fix the problem, rather than merely resume the status quo that led to the conflict.
