It's mostly because many believe that the ice is too thick to actually get to said resources. If that ice were to melt, we'd be looking at rising sea levels supposedly. But because of the massive glaciers that cover most of greenland, the resources are unextractable for the time being. Hell the US set up an entire military base up there, and abandoned it later one. Complete with a decommissioned nuclear power plant. Maybe that's a lie, maybe it's not, but that's by and large been the "informed response" by naysayers to the idea of getting greenland for resource extraction.
