At least 8 KC-135R tankers were spotted in Honolulu, Hawaii, on a possible redeployment to the Middle East. The tankers could be deployed in Diego Garcia, as another tanker had already been spotted there. There's also been C-17s and a C-5 heading that way. Diego Garcia, according to a satellite image from yesterday, only has a lone KC-135. The initial airstrikes on Friday will be launched from the US similar to our attack in June so keep an eye out for any reports of B-2s taking off from Whitman AFB between 4 and 6AM EST Friday morning for an attack Friday night around 7:30PM. Diego Garcia will, like during most of GWOT, be the main bomber base. I'm not sure where the nearest carrier group is or if one is even being ordered to the Gulf but that will take weeks to get in theater.

If true, the US and Israeli inaction is giving off serious Warsaw ghetto vibes.
It's a smart move. Let the regime kill off the people who care the most and thus potentially be a problem for the new government (who won't be chosen by the people) and then cruise in afterwards and mop up the tired and demoralized Iranian troops.
Edit: meant to say Warsaw uprising by the Poles, not the ghetto uprising by the Jews.

Closest one is USS Abraham Lincoln in the South China Sea fucking with the Chinese, beyond that we have nothing in the Indian Ocean currently as Trump went all in on taking over Venezuela so the Iranians kinda fucked themselves with the timing.

Believe it or not, the US cant materialize an armada of warplanes anywhere over the world at any given point in time. Even if the order to start bombing the shit out of Iran has been given the aircraft still need to be staged, fueld, armed, the pilots given their orders and then flown to the target area. Even assuming an immediate hair trigger response this can take up to 24 hours, but realistically takes several days.
That said, depending on what Trunp wants to do we could be seeing the largest aerial bombardment since the second world war about to play out. If Trumps goal is to bring down the Ayatlloahs this time, I do not think he will opt for subtlety like he did with Midnight Hammer.

The nearest carriers are the Abraham Lincoln in the South China Sea (reported yesterday) and the George Washington at Yokosuka (arrived December 11). At flank speed it would take the Abraham Lincoln about a week to reach the Arabian sea

Tired of trying to build secular democracies in the middle east. Or imposing them on people who dont want them. If the Iranians want the Shah back, let them have the Shah back. Maybe a constitutional monarchy like in Bhutan or Thailand.

Yes that is all true. What is also true is that Mossad and probably CIA have been embedded with protestors since the begining. The goal has always been to use the blood of innocent Iranians as an excuse for regime change. If we sat an airceaft carrier of Iranian coast then the regime wouldn't be emboledend to massacre it's citizens.
Like I said it's a smart play. People like you will gunt gaurd every decision and Israel and the US get to act like saviors and shame anyone who might bring up the fact that they could have interviened earlier.
I would even go so far as to say that telling the Mullahs we were open to negotiation was a ploy to embolden them to crack down even harder. The images that will come out once the lockdown is lifted will be horrific and the West will proudly wear the savior cape.
This is how politics works.
50/50 is we start bombing before they start hanging people tomorrow. The cynical side of me says after, the hopefull says before.

I think its perfectly obvious to everyone that the reason the USA is gung ho about this is because its an opportunity to really stick the sword into the throat of a strategic enemy that has vexed America for almost half a century. This doesn't mean the Iranian people wont be happy with the result though. It could argued in fact the Iranian people are the ones dragging the Mullahs in front of the Americans for the blade.
Both things can be true at the same time.
