Iran Crisis & the 2026 War between Iran and the United States, Gulf States, and Israel - Please focus on news and coverage, not argumentation.

reminds me of russia

tsarist russia had its own secret police too, the okhrana
then came the revolution, the commies dissolved the okhrana and replaced it with their own secret police: the cheka, which ended up being a hundred times more brutal and cruel than anything the romanovs could ever have dreamt of
And to reinforce the idea that they would be in charge now the Cheka took over one of the buildings of the Rossiya Insurance Company, turned it into the infamous combination HQ/Prison known as the Lubyanka... and in a massive coincidence said building happened to be located on the exact same spot Catherine the Great's secret police had their first HQ

But I'm sure that was all just a coincidence, and certainly not them trying to lay claim to any prior legitimacy of state terror. Especially the part where Putin's FSB continues to use it as their headquarters to this day.
Doesn't sound like a western problem. Led mad sand leader stay big mad.
Aside from the part where they've been funding terror acts against the West in the name of Islam ever since they took power, of course.

Iraqi source is hearing jets overhead. There have been no airstrikes in Syria/Iraq in the last few hours and the last time US was this close to Iran's borders was a month ago.

My friend made $1000 on the 12 day war betting on stuff

They might just have stepped up show of force/air policing/CAP for US basing and the embassy in/around Iraq in case the Iran-aligned militias decide to try anything or the IRoI tries to target them with missiles. Given the current threat environment I think that would a prudent step until this resolves, one way or another.

Revolutionaries in Marvdasht still have control over the city. "We are waiting for the next call-to-action from HRH Reza Pahlavi"

Iranian diaspora in Denmark enter the Iranian embassy and tear down portraits of the Ayatollahs.

For me, I genuinely believe in God, the Bible, and Christianity as a whole, I am a Catholic after all, but at this point, I WISH it were all not real so I don't have to think about scrupulosity or creepy demons potentially prowling around me every time I so much as think wrong. But make no mistake, I DO believe in Christianity, there's too much spiritual evidence in our reality to prove it wrong even if I wish our actions were the only things that determinated the fate of our world.
I think you should take hope in your faith. It's better to truly believe that there is a personified force that wants you to prevail against evil because evil will exist anyways, metaphysical or physical. I believe in god but can't quite bring myself to believe that J-man was real or an incarnation of god. I am more of a deist who thinks that Christianity is a force for good in the world.

It doesn't need faith for one to see that true evil exists. Evil is not god's fault, it is the choice of man. Evil is not the fault of the unknowable force of creation if you choose to see it that way either, it is still the fault of man. Any form of reason that helps avoid, transcend, or defeat evil is to the ultimate betterment of mankind.

How do you fight back when they’re willing to break a fundamental piece of the Internet’s stack outside of Starlink or Iridium.
LoRa/Meshtastic which can sit in the 433MHz-915MHz frequencies. Used for long range encrypted text communications, can reach 10 miles easily if you have good terrain in rural areas. Each device will transmit and recieve data for up to 7 hops. It's already been used in emergency disaster communications.

The biggest problem is bad actors can bring down a network by flooding it.

Axios is claiming the obvious.

You mean how Dr. Kellogg popularized it. Judaism is against non Jews being cut because it's supposed to be a distinguishing aspect of a Jew.
Playing devils advocate here but perhaps some individuals popularized it out of spite for both sides?

Brampf has declared a 25% tariff on any country doing any business with Iran. JD Fag won I guess
This feels like drawing the regime into a state of false security.
The tariff is Trump lulling Iran into a false sense of security. He did the same thing in June when we were still negotiating with them just before wrecking their nuke sites.

Its monday dudes. The protestors just need to hold the line till close of markets on Friday.

So apparently Trump has instructed all US Citizens to get out of Iran.

Ummm? Didn’t the last US Citizens in Iran get the fuck out on the day Reagan was inaugurated? Did nobody tell Trump? This is kind of like ordering US Citizens out of North Korea. I would consider that this might be a subtle way to politely suggest to our Canadian neighbors that they might want to get the hell out, without actually saying it. But while the Trump White House is many things, Subtle is not on the list.

Thinking on it, I suspect If Trump does anything it will likely be directed against the Iranian Air Force and Army Helicopter forces. Things that nobody wants to see turned on the civilian population.

The Pentagon is presenting a wider range of strike options to the president than previously reported. Targets could include Iran’s nuclear program and ballistic missile sites.

Mr. Trump was recently briefed by the Pentagon on options for a new strike on Iran, The Times reported on Saturday. The strike could take aim at targets in Tehran, including ones associated with domestic security forces that U.S. officials deem to be responsible for attacks on protesters, including the state-backed Basij militia. American officials said such targets were more likely than ones that are part of Iran’s nuclear or ballistic missile programs.
A U.S. strike would be aimed at sending a message to the ayatollah about killing protesters and not intended to lead to a direct overthrow of the government, officials said.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other aides have been keeping Mr. Trump apprised of the protests, and he has also been tracking news coverage about them.

Iran is far less isolated than NK, and people from the Iranian Diaspora, wherever they are and wherever they are a citizen of, still often go back to visit family and the old country. It's impossible to fully account for every US citizen and where exactly they may be throughout the world, so these instructions are standard for when your citizens are in other countries. Though, it's usually not the president who gives them, which means something may happen.

I thought about that. It seems like one of those things that you would need the foresight to set up and I don’t think the equipment is expensive or hard to build. It’s just a matter of setting it up before your country’s ruling dictatorship decides to cut access to the Internet.

If the Ayatollah really thinks these protests are about to overthrow his government, I don't see why he'd back off killing protest leaders just because Trump blew up the same kinds of targets he hit before, plus a few army buildings.

And even if the current protester killings stop, the regime can just track down and imprison the leaders later. It seems like this current situation is put up or shut up time. Lobbing a few airstrikes at more nuclear program sites a some missile production facilities is lame.
