Even when I was younger and into his videos I fucking hated his fanbase. He's really cultivated the most parasocial fucking fanclub out there I think. They all flood his comments with shit like they actually genuinely believe they're friends and it's because the dude allows it, just to cry about when one inevitably crosses a line like when one fan showed up to his house. I see a lot of similar comments but his has to have the most "Jack I know you won't read this but I was really depressed and your videos cured my depression and stopped me from ending my life!!" comments out there. It's absolutely bizarre.

Thankfully it's only one song but i don't get how people don't see how annoying they are when everyone goes into a random room and starts shouting a reference. It's weird and parasocial to be this invested in a youtuber especially if it's someone else's fandom and expect some people not to be annoyed.

The video itself is kind of interesting but i've seen other comments from other people here who are aware of him and I am not surprised at what they think. Humor is really inoffensive and a little dry but the videos are produced rather well so it's probably no secret his fandom is on the younger side.

Anyone remember the "Before They Were Famous" channel? They would just read early life wikipedia entries of celebs, and then when they died they'd read the rest of the articles for their "Before They Were Dead" series before the body even got cold. Some found that to be in poor taste.

There are a few very high1 effort2 channels I sorely miss that only dropped a few videos before leaving, and I can't help but wonder if it's partially because they don't get as much ground as a random guy reading shit from Reddit or Wikipedia and filling it with stock videos.

Recently, I started turning on Double Toasted. I've come to the conclusion that as funny as those dudes are, as movie reviewers they are fucking terrible. More and more frequently, they straight up do not understand certain films, they misremember critical plot elements, they have a guy on their staff who is both a pretentious douche and also has admitted that he's on his phone half the time instead of actually watching movies. Just oozing with bias a lot of the time.
