The fact of the matter is we could buy it for $1 and Denmark would still be better off financially since they lose money on Greenland. So why hasn't that happened? Well here's my theory. Do you know how Apple buys parts of the Amazon rainforest and gets carbon credits for not burning it down? I bet the real reason Denmark is so hesitant to let Greenland go is along those lines and has something to do with carbon emissions commitments they made. Denmark probably counts owning Greenland as a reduction or a credit to offset increased carbon emissions in their country, so selling Greenland, allowing it to become independent, or allowing people to invest in and develop Greenland would screw up some 2035 carbon neutral agenda and expose it all as fraudulent.
