That's mostly true but I also think that they would be much better served by a US focused shipping route than whatever the hell Denmark can muster. Greenland has to import almost all of it's food because it's a baren wasteland while the US is a breadbasket. They might see much easier access to those things if there are already tons of cargo ships dropping off food and supplies for soldiers at a military base.
