If you don't have PTO, many blue collar places don't let you just fuck off for several hours out of the day without consequences. Yes. You should find a better job if you work for someplace like that. Most people can't.
You are acting like it is difficult to say a week before early voting opens going to your supervisor, foreman, lead, HR, whatever, and say "hey, I want X day/early to perform my civic duty of voting." If they deny you, call them an immigrant whore and leave.

Edit:
Y'all really don't know how to negotiate do you. If you can't get your shift covered trade shifts with someone else who is interested in voting, or shift your fucking hours so you don't have to lose hours, no wonder your wages have stagnated. My goodness, I don't think I want the masses to have the ability to vote at this rate.

How very simply said and not done when you live paycheck to paycheck.

calling them an immigrant whore doesn't make up the hours of my paycheck.

Don't vote then. But also don't sit and complain demanding Federal Government fix the minor inconveniences because you're too stunted, or perceive a huge loss of 5 hours out of a paycheck. My point is, if you want something enough, nothing will stop you from obtaining it. Anything less and I question conviction.

so, either have a say in my country's government, or work a barely liveable wage for someone who hates me.

you're a fucking moron.

perceive a huge loss of 5 hours
for some people 5 hours is the difference between having enough money and not. your wealth is showing, you fucking faggot.

I don't think you're taking into account that in the interest of fairness, every single employee would be asking for the same day off and that's simply not feasible.

Polls in most states are open to 8PM or later.

How Indians came to dominate the independent hotel business
Eventually Indians, especially those from Gujarat, bought and operated many thousands of motels in rural America, often the only Indian family in town.
I can believe this is true. I did some contract work once on a roadside motel. It was the kind of place that kept people off the streets provided they could come up with $300 a week. It was run by an Indian family who lived in an apartment behind the front counter. Whole place smelled like curry.

The Chinese will do something similar to the rural Indians. They'll open up restaurants in small towns because they know people will come from three counties over to get their fried chicken with sweet and sour sauce.

Early voting averages around 20 days. That's 20 days for 20 employees. I vote fairly regularly between two jobs and gig work, y'all have no excuses if you want to vote you will find a way. That's the American way. Least that's what it used to be.

My apologies I thought we were talking about everybody going down at once on voting day.

That was my original point. There are many who wish to do away with early voting all together and have voting take place on one day, in person, with ID only. This is when I mentioned a national holiday would be the only acceptable way to make this happen.

Early voting (again, people want to do away with this as well) solves this issue too.

Both my senators have already co-sponsored, should I send them gift baskets?
I wrote both of my awful Dem senators saying that, if they don't vote for it, then it proves everything about the fraud and the cheating true and I'll let all of the ladies in my wine club know that the Democrats are liars cheats and thieves. I also pretended to be a 65 year old boomer woman (lifelong dem) for the purposes of my letter.

You know what does, leaving work early, voting, then deliver an uber delivery order something. My point is, take ownership of your lives back. IDK, I guess I am speaking from a point of privilege as my family has never been wealthy but instilled an inordinate work ethic. Speaking of, high volume time.

In Missouri the polls close at 7:00, but as long as you've gotten in line by 7:00 they will let you vote no matter how long it takes.

In that case I agree completely. Just let everyone have the day off, one day of voting one shot, mail ins only for military and other people overseas.
I don't know why we tend to overcomplicate things. We have computers and shit we use for voting, but in Arizona it takes 17 days to call an election. Back in the day people were going in and marking on a piece of paper with a pencil who they wanted to win the presidency and the results were night of.

I’m in California, there’s a less than zero percent chance my senator will ever vote for this.
So? We are GAYMERS. We don't care if we see a drop/success rate of 1/1000. You go for that shit every time.

BMJ earned multiple Civics by double chucking it all the time. It's going to squirt* eventually.

*squirt as in, your Senator will vote for it.

i don't like using the term because faggot sjws have overtaken it, but yes, you are speaking from a position of privilege whether you realize it or not. it's not always possible for someone to do the things you're saying, especially if you live in an at will employment state, just leaving the fucking workday could very well mean your job, not just 5 hours.

i agree with you that we need to take back our lives, but you can't take back your life when you work a subsistence job AND are under threat of losing the only job in the damn town, you don't have a fucking choice but to deal with what you have. some peoples' cards aren't dealt in such a way that they have a bunch of job opportunities. being from a poor town in appalachia will teach you that you don't get to make the rules for a job, it makes the rules for you, or you fucking starve.
