2025 US and Venezuela Conflict - Operation Just Cause 2: 2 Just 2 Cause

Congress is playing around with issuing a draft. If they freaked out and barely handled the anti-Israel protests on college campuses, bringing back the draft will create an even bigger storm. If anything, this might explain Trump bringing in 500,000 Pajeet and Chinese students. Got to keep the colleges in business.

And of course this will probably destabilize the entire region regardless, with criminal elements fleeing to Colombia and Brazil and further worsening the situations in those countries.
Sure it's cool to watch modern military equipment in operation, but I don't get the hype. This has much greater potential to backfire than to provide the US with any actual benefits.
Well we get to sit back and watch the fireworks here but the innocent people that were born in Venezuela are looking at an entirely uncertain future. Guerillas, gang wars, bombings.

Pablo Escobar set Columbia on fire and he was just a drug kingpin, imagine what the very fallible US military is going to put these poor schmucks through.
Delt-uh Forse.

WTF is with those charges?
'The media is reporting that one of them is 'posession of a machine gun', and the another being 'trying to obtain a machine gun'.
What law did he break?
I heard this as well, and the machine gun charges make zero sense (because Venezuela has an army), unless he has a house on US soil and they raided that before his araignment, and found either illegal weapons there, or security had them. The security thing shouldn't be an issue for diplomatic security (I think) but I've been seeing that he had Cubans for his personal security, which would complicate things.

Rather odd how the "woke" are REE-ing while Venezuelans are celebrating...

And why are SJWs supportive of a dictator while doing "No Kings" protests?

What dictator? maduro is a working class man of the people struggling against american imperialism and we have always been at war with eastasia

Edit: I honestly think the charges don't really matter he will be found guilty of whatever but this is pretty clearly meant to send the message that there is no law in this hemisphere higher than ours and that certain leaders are nothing more than petty criminals who we can buy and sell at our leisure and that's fucking based

As an Eurocuck myself, I don't particularly like the idea of simply grabbing a foreign statehead like this either, but Maduro was a POS, the Venezuelan people are happy, and if US does swift the oil market it will most likely bode well for us Western folks, including us in the EU. I don't like that it sort of gives legitimacy for Russia, China and whoever to project their power, but the practical effects could still be beneficial at least in the short term for Europe.
Agreed. I think similarly.

This is a non-issue. If you've ever gone to vote or have a driver's license, you're already signed up. Making it automatic instead of being something separate you will have to fill out at some point anyways is a nothingburger.

There's nothing in that article that even mentions calling a draft. You've been here three years and you don't know how to read?

Basically, they (through their agents, probably) tried to and did cause guns/DDs that violate 18 USC 922 to be brought into the US.

I don't believe voter registration counts. When I was looking at college the FAFSA requires that you have signed up for selective service, for men at least. I think it's a crime still not to register for the draft, for men at least. It's been a while since I had to deal with any of this, and I'm a pothead so [insert memory joke here].

@Thomas Talus so those are the laws, but what actually triggers the charges if it wasn't on US soil?

He's being gotten on the NFA for two reasons

First, Venezuelans developed and manufactured the Glock Trigger which made a Glock fully automatic, and the government will argue that Maduro knowingly (for profit) allowed the devices to be made and manufactured in Venezeula and transported via TdA members to the United States.

Second, given that TdA members have been caught with illegal/fully-automatic weapons, that TdA was operated on Maduri's orders/at his direction (per US Govt narrative), the weapons violations of TdA apply to Maduro via RICO. methods.
(I'm less clear on why Mrs. Maduro got churroed with him.)

Normally a head of state doing state business would be immune from such charges, but the DOJ's position is shaping to be that Maduro lost the 2024 election, did not step asside but was not a legitimate head of state, thus any actions he took post 2024 are as a private citizen.

@Thomas Talus

I signed up when I went in for voter registration when I turned 18. I guess it wasn't automatic, but it's a federal crime to not opt in so why not just do it then and there, right? The DDS does automatically register you with the SSS when you go in for a driver's license and there isn't an opt-out. Either way, you're correct that it's illegal to not sign up and effects your ability to get state IDs, licenses, FAFSA, and exempts you from scholarships.
