Keep in mind that the building on the left is all wood construction, it's lightweight and easy to work with, but vulnerable to fire (it was destroyed in in 1925, and its replacement building was heavily damaged by another fire in 1931).
Photography was a lot more expensive than a cartoonist, they had a bottom line to meet.

it was the largest clocktower on earth
But ill tell you what tells me its one of the old beasts for sure
we couldn't even tear it down, thats how insane this building is

My favorite is looking at the few photos they allow us to see of the "construction" of these kind of buildings, the Eiffel tower is the most obvious one but this one is up there.
the statues at the top are "cut out" so bad they almost look like THEY are the part out of place rather than their strangely irregular white edges
Alot of people just dont understand how photography works and assume "photo editing" is a moderen phenomenon but that could not be further from the truth, when photography was born so was photo editing beacuse the very process of developing the image IS altering it.
If your honest you seek to preserve as true to reality as possible, but if you wish to mislead its as simple as "cutting out" literally what you dont want out of the negative and or "rubbing out" the parts you want obscured. you can even replace things wholecloth.
