PS: Peru has the added benefit of being in a protracted political crisis that is only held together by Dina Boluarte for the time being, Although it seems that Boluarte is trying to consistently seek Trump's favor, they met at the recent UN meeting. So, their plan is to have Maduro abducted and use this show of force to have Maduro's people continue to run the country with "guidance" from Washington. They think they can tell them what to do, and that this situation will somehow be conducive to American companies wanting to do business in Venezuela again.
Invest billions in the hope that Maduro's rotten regime will be less rotten without Maduro at its head.

It's tempting to see this as oil companies using US tax payers to pay for security and opening access to foreign reserves, all the cost for American citizens and all the profits for themselves, but I wonder whether that is true. I wonder whether MAGA actually talked to any oil people about their plan.

What's worth asking is if American producers even want this oil into the market. US producers need relatively high prices to make profit, if somehow (and there is a low chance to be fair) Venezuela triples their production in 5 years it would put quite a few US producers out of the business.

Of course there's no there here. It's just the mad King and his toadies lashing out at whatever perceived slight or danger comes into their vision: like a rabies invested, drooling animal that needs to be put down.

If we lose a single US soldier over this I hope to fucking hell Trump pays for this somehow. Our guys dying for what?

US refineries are mainly equipped for heavy crude oil. Venezuela has the second highest reserves of that in a single country. Second only to Russia. Heavy crude is used to make gasoline and motor oil. It'll "improve" the economy and make gas prices cheaper and lessen the economic impact of going to war with Iran.

American producers definitely want this oil to as most of the money comes from exporting oil these days. The US is now a main exporter thanks to Obamas fracking initiatives. The problem is the oil from fracking is light oil and, as mentioned earlier, our refineries are mainly equipped to refine heavy and medium crude. It's more money for the producers in the end.

Fatboy Dim has said the US companies would take care of it; so you know they'll just hand those oil fields/production facilities to Shell or Exxon or whoever else. Hell, he even said the US would "run Venezuela indefinitely in the interim till safe transition takes place (Read: A guy we like who'll be our bitch is in charge)".

Give me your rainbows but is there a chance in hell that this will trickle down to the consumer? That gas prices will go down and inflation is kept at a historical minimum for more than 2 consecutive years?

Depends on how soon Trump decides to invade Iran. If he never does, we won't see a price drop for a few years. If he does invade, the economy will probably stay as is.
