I ve meditated on this as well. I think issue is a fundamental misunderstanding of what is normal.
What feels like a lifetime ago Metal Gear Solid V was about to come out and in an act of pure capitalism they released a 40$ demo of the game called "Zero Hour" me and a bunch of friends organized a pseduo "speed run" challenge as the game was very sandbox in design but with a concrete "finish point" that was highly open to optimization.
Ill spare you the blow-by-blow, (even though its thrilling) and I was in the top spot contention, or atleast thats the way it seemed to me. it was between me and 2 other guys competing to knock off fractions of seconds off our run. Near the end of our "competition" one of the guys in the contest showed up with a validated run a full 6 minutes faster than anyone else. I obviously demanded to watch him do it in real time to prove it was real
Buddy had just become one with the fucking game or somthing and spent so much time playing he had EVERYONE of the npcs actions figured out, he learned that they have a chance to "butterfly" effect eachother (the npcs) based on what you do to one, so he SOMEHOW figured out that if he did a weird chain of actions he could daisy chain NPCs into being where they should not be and just BROKE the game completely, He had worked out shit like the exact pixel distance he needed to shoot in an empty area to get a guard to move 7 meters as opposed to 8 and that guard being 7 meters instead of 8 stops a truck in the road and on and on and on.
He explained it all to me like I was a clay brained idiot for not thinking of this and haughtily claimed the winnings.
I remember asking him, "man we all did our runs as a group, why dident you join us, this was meant to be a competition but fun"
dude stared straight through me and said "I dident want any of you to have a chance"
That was the moment I realized the people who run this bitch arent smarter or better than us, they are just more fucked in the head. Had any of us KNOWN of this strategy we probably could have done better than him with it as almost everyone in the top contention was a skillfuly better player.
"I dident want any of you to have a chance"
they arent better at the game, they just are very skilled at breaking it.
