As was pointed out in this thread, Minnesota made this a law that children would get their own representation, after abuse occurred on a previous child victim on the part of the state and the parents.

The children not only knew, but 100% knew what their parents were doing, and what was going on. But he has to keep up this lie that somehow no one was harmed by his decisions, because if he admits that, then that means he is a failure as a parent.
