Some of the older vets I talked to a lot had a lot of stories about SK. One of them was a Cav Scout near the DMZ in the 80's, and he said the country was still in the dark ages. No toilets, water, anything for the entire country other than Seoul or the bigger cities. Then ten years later he visits and it's a whole different world, almost as if not more advanced than the US in some places. Their growth was crazy impressive, but the costs are just starting to add up now with the collapsing birth rate and societal death spiral.
