Science Scientists say you weren't Kangz and shiet.

The first ever genetic analysis of mummies found that ancient Egyptian kings were more closely related to West Asians than Africans, according to a study published Tuesday by scientists at the Max Planck Institute.

The research found that ancient Egyptians were most closely related to Neolithic Levantine, Anatolian and European populations. The mummies tested did not share strong genetic links to Africa often found in modern Egyptians.

“This suggests that an increase in Sub-Saharan African gene flow into Egypt occurred within the last 1,500 years,” Wolfgang Haak, who led the research team, said in a statement.

“The genetics of the Abusir el-Meleq community did not undergo any major shifts during the 1,300 year timespan we studied, suggesting that the population remained genetically relatively unaffected by foreign conquest and rule,” Haak said.

It’s further evidence that ancient Egyptians were genetically different than modern day residents. Scientists largely agree that ancient Egyptians were indigenous to the Nile area, but a vocal minority of “Afrocentric” scholars claim that the area’s ancient population was entirely African.

Those scholars claim ancient Egyptians were similar to Sub-Saharan African cultures, arguing that famous Egyptian rulers, including Tutankhamun and Cleopatra, were more African than Caucasian.

Researchers analyzed ancient DNA from mummified Egyptians who lived from 1400 B.C. to 400 A.D., establishing that mummies can be a reliable source for genetic material to study the ancient past.

The study could open the door to further genetic testing of mummified remains. More than 151 individual mummies were examined during the research. Scientists recovered mitochondrial genomes from 90 individuals and genome-wide data sets from three individuals.

Egypt is intrinsically linked with Europe, like the rest of North Africa. In its time, it has been ruled by Hittites, Persians, Incestuous Greeks and Romans. Claiming that the Pharaohs of Egypt were genetically sub Saharan is an attempt to distance Egypt from Europe because 'Kangz'

greeks are like a fringe european man they brownish same wit the hits and persians an even if it was ruled by romans that dont mean it was 100% white

Yep the Greeks, the fathers of Western philosophy, politics, law and storytelling traditions, are fringe Europe and so they don't count. Because that's how science works, you leave out the bits you don't like and just pretend they don't exist. I can't tell, are you a gimmick poster, and your gimmick is your only education is from tumblr? Seriously..

I wish I knew the story behind the three black dudes who didn't get crushed by the wheels who are hanging out with the Egyptians to the right there. they're waving. who are those guys. that's the story I want to hear.

and it's a good point that there is a lot to study in African history without fretting about Egypt. wasn't there some Queen in there who basically took over and made an empire?

So yes you are a gimmick account? Just say yes then.

It's ridiculously annoying when groids feel they have to steal European history when they have their own history.

Mansa Musa (actual REAL KANG). Why not popularize this guy? You could make an all black Game of Thrones-tier story about him, and without even changing the real history.

I hate to use this particular phrase, but I think it actually is internalized racism when you don't even know about the real history of your people and despise it so much that you'd rather make up lies about how random white people were actually secretly black.

It's sad and dumb, since despite all the utter shit racists on /pol/ say, there was a time when Africa was not only on the same level as European civilizations, but possibly even doing better. The Mali Empire is just the most obvious example. Truly "progressive" historical research would be making these already known facts more widely known.

Mansa Musa was probably the richest man in recorded history, taking into account what wealth he had back then, and then comparing it to net worth of people today it would almost be 400 billion dollars.

It is really sad that most black people don't know where they are from, the first slave masters did a really good job beating most of their heritage out of them, but most DNA testing should be able to help with that now.

the dude who runs the black people matrix is doubling down, whitey:

I had heard that Tiye (the mother in law bust in the last pic) may have been dark like the bust. However, the hair of her mummy is soft and wavy. It isn't Sub-Saharan hair.

tumblr_mdcgmsAqmF1r1a3nto2_1280.jpg

That "afro" on the bust is actually the remains of a pilfered gold headdress. It isn't hair and wasn't meant to be. It's just the foundation of the headdress. You can see similar headdresses that are still intact on other sculptures. Tiye's natural hair color was auburn. A lot of mummies that were buried still possessing their natural hair have soft, smooth, auburn hair. Tiye's father Yuya was thought to be a foreigner due to his name and unusual features. He may have come from what is now modern Syria. Nefertiti's father may have been Ay, who would have been the brother of Tiye, therefore he would also be part Syrian. The Egyptian royals liked to keep it in the family. It's not 100% certain that Ay and Tiye are siblings. But it's a pretty good guess considering the privilege family members of the beloved Tiye had. Tiye's mother Thuya was probably a native Egyptian. That kind of closes the book on what Tutankamun probably looked like right there. Native Egyptian with a little Syrian. In other words, not black. They've reconstructed his face but some people are very unhappy that he doesn't look like a Sub-Saharan.

Akhenaten was a weirdo. All of the exaggerated art from the Amarna period was his idea. He may have suffered from some sort of illness that deformed him somewhat. But no mummy has ever been found so we just don't know. However, unless his father Amenhotep III looked like Lebron James it's unlikely any of he and Tiye's children did either. In other words, they waznt kaingz.

Wonder if this will tie into the new Mummy movie and there will be "outrage" the title character is not black (if there wasn't "outrage" already) :story:

In rebutting the claim that the Pharaonic Egyptians were "black" its important to not go overboard and intentionally under-emphasise Egypts position in Africa and its cultural contact with Sub-Saharan Africans in Nubia. There were Pharaohs with black ancestry even before the 25th Dynasty, and Nubias culture was dominated so thoroughly by Egypt it kept the Pharaonic traditions and religion alive long after they ceased to be practiced in Egypt proper.

even without dna testing, if these internet dindus want to feel so proud of african history, they could crack a book and learn something about it. honestly it's like me going "BY THE WAY IM IRISH I WAS KANGS AND SHIT! HENRY VI REPRESENT!" because why actually learn about actual irish people.

do these "but they on africa so they must be black" people actually look at the people who live in egypt NOW?

This is one of the biggest problems with Afrocentrism imo. It's less "let's popularize influential and interesting historical black figures" and more "let's claim that influential and interesting historical European/Middle Eastern/Asian/etc figures were really black."

Probably the most infamous example of this is the "black Beethoven" controversy. As this academic site explains:
Was Beethoven black?

Many people in the African-American community claim that there has been a conspiracy on the part of European-Americans to conceal Beethoven’s alleged black heritage. The theory that he was black is based on the fact that Beethoven’s ancestors came from the Flemish region of northern Europe that was invaded and ruled by the Spanish. Since the Moors were part of Spanish culture, it is possible that Moors were part of the invasion. This theory, however, is not based on genealogical studies of Beethoven’s past, which are available to the public. Rather, it is based on the assumption that one of Beethoven’s ancestors had a child out of wedlock. Another part of this theory is that Beethoven was given the nickname “Spaniard” as a child because he had a dark complexion by European standards. However, it is important to note that no one called Beethoven black or a Moor during his lifetime, and the Viennese were keenly aware both of Moors and of mulattos, such as George Bridgetower, the famous violinist who collaborated with Beethoven.

Despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary, a lot of Afrocentrists are still desperate to claim Beethoven as their own. They embarrass themselves by making outlandish claims about Beethoven's ethnicity when they should be focusing on classical musicians who were actually black. The paragraph I just posted mentioned George Bridgetower, an Afro-European violinist who worked with Beethoven. Why not focus on him?

Última edición:
Why co-opt Egyptian kings when you have some pretty badass ones already?

Like @AnOminous said, there's Mansa Musa, who was so goddamn wealthy that he destroyed the economies of several countries during his Hajj.

There's Zara Yaqoob Solomonid of Ethiopia, who turned his Coptic tribal country into a powerhouse in West Africa... Ethiopia is also one of the few African countries to resist European colonization...

Shaka Zulu, a man who led a fierce resistance against British occupation.

I could probably scrape together some research for another longpost on this if you guys wanted.

Not exactly, the slave traders didn't care about where the slaves where from and people are people so tribal DNA will not really help much - and a lot of tribes that were around then don't exist anymore they have either been absorbed into larger tribes or just been absorbed into the general mix of Africa - there is also several problems with the level of detail you can get from the DNA tests of groups that are culturally different but regionally similar. We are not quite there yet, soon but not quite.

My problem with this whole Afrocentralisim malarky is the intellectual dishonesty you have to engage in to make it even slightly plausible - if anything if he was black it would have been mentioned at the time because an African in Europe was a real talking point because it wasn't that common to see especially someone with that talent who was in his youth a prodigy and akin to a boy band member, hell the Royal Navy had black Crewmen and they were mentioned as being unusual to see outside of the Dockyard towns, hell an Early African envoy was noted by lots of surviving diarys in the time and people traveling to see them, same goes for envoys from other countries.

Then again there is a whole other mess we can get into with this about decrying modern education in favour of traditional teachings that some of the more extreme AC's engage in and are willing to try and drill into your head if your even dumb enough to show a mote of intrest.

Please do I really like your long posts, they are often entertaining and well written :).

I do understand though to a degree, say what you will a shit ton of people were bound up thrown on a boat sailed off to what was basically an alien world and life. Their descendants have no idea what comes before for them. The world basically starts in 1861 for black people.

So of course that would make one feel the need to search for their roots and of course they want those roots to be kangz.

-btw this just applies to our darkies over here. We cant help what forgein darkies do. We got we got 99 problems over here and kangz aint one

Oh no I agree but unless your family keeps records themselves or they are lucky and can trace them back to surviving ones after 150 years it get's hard and kinda meaningless unless your family has undergone some serious changes in that time frame or just before - I mean you can kinda work out the region your family's where from in that time period through DNA but Africa has always had a weird mix of tribes that have interbred so the best thing you can hope for unless you are really lucky is oh they came from somewhere in Uganda on my mother's side and Rwanda on my Dad's, the DNA sampling we have are not yet defined well enough to give you any serious phenotyping at that level yet, we are not far off but still not at that level.
