How exactly does a price correction happen in this case? Wouldn't the prices only be corrected the sellers started selling lower? Obviously the mechanism for that depends on a bunch of shit, but if you are invested in a property halving the price makes no sense?

Or are people doing the loan shit again and we just have a surplus of homes about to go under and appear back on the market, thus lowering prices through sheer volume?

Its kinda 4 issues all happening at once that's going to force the markets hand. They can't keep their fingers in their ears much longer.

1) evictions due to illegals/denaturized people
2) SNAP work requirement is going to affect section 8
3) net migration is at its lowest and is trending down
4) Federal mortgage moratorium and assistance ended NOV 1 (DEC is first month of non-payment)

The supply on housing is expected(going to) explode. With deportations ramping up at the start of 2026, the banks shitting themselves over mortgage debt (The federal moratorium was supposed to expire in October but they begged and got it extended until November) and the other stuff I listed the writing is on the wall. Anticipating this people are going to realize that selling now and willingly losing 10% of the equity is better than trying to hold out and then losing 20%± when the supply booms and you're forced to lower your price.
