taking the subway/lightrail whatever within a metro area is not the same as taking trains in between metro areas

this is not hard, if I take the subway from manhattan to queens or BART from downtown SF to Walnut Creek that is a different thing than if I take the train from NY to Boston or from SF to Sacramento

it is much easier to keep riffraff off the latter kinds of journeys because it's more expensive. the issue in the US is the lack of rail, although in the west this isn't remotely as insuperable as people act like it is. It's empty as shit out here.

I've never thought about it but he's basically ignored outside of academia isn't he? He's one of the most influential people in US history and arguably world history but in very nerdy ways. The primary chemical used to process gold, and to a lesser extent, copper, is  arsenic. Finding rocks, and digging them up is of little consequence, its turning them into anything useful thats hard to do. The other problem is that we live in [current year] in America, where there are 18 trillion regulations about all of this, from production, processing, storeage, and waste disposal (or storage thereof as the case may be).

TL;DR: We don't get lithium from china because theyre the only ones that have it, we get lithium from china because they don't care about the people and chemicals that process it.
