Is playing video games once reaching adulthood childish?

Yes, it is. We should be doing better things with our time. I'm ashamed every time I play them.

Of course I grew up in a time when playing them as a kid was also something to be ashamed of. Games are nerd shit, keep them behind closed doors and don't tell anyone.

Once you turn 18 the only point in life is to work, marry a woman, and have children. "Fun" and "enjoying things" is for liberals and children. Stop playing games and work 12 hours at a job you hate until you die at 67.
 
Six or seven years ago I would have agreed but my professional life has put me into contact with more people over the age of 50 that casually admit to being Gaymers™ than I would have expected. I'd rather judge people based on the games they play than whether or not they play games at all.

If you have all this time to analyze someone's entire life and judge them based on hobbies then you're the one who is a child as you clearly have absolutely nothing going on in your life. Every time a woman brings up the topic of "what a man should be at 30", just remember that the appropriate age for a woman to have a kid is one year (9 months) after having their first intercourse. Since 99.999% of all women don't follow this and infantilizes themselves with condoms full of PFAS chemicals + contraceptive pills (hormones) to avoid growing up and raise kids, why should they care about a man who plays video games?

Just saying, if around 50% of the population is doing everything to not grow up, why should anyone bat an eye on video games?

I used to feel incredibly guilty when playing games. I always felt like there was something more valuable I could be doing with my time. Thankfully, the state of gaming is so fucking poor right now that I rarely even consider playing games.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with gaming. However and for example, if you live in a literal pigsty with trash piled to the ceiling, yeah, your priorities are fucked and you are behaving like a child by opting to be slothful instead of productive

Don't be a sperg about it, don't build your entire personality around it, don't try to get other people into your hobby when they are clearly uninterested and just spend your leisure time in a way that makes you happy.
 
I’m pushing 2k hours in DBD over about 7 years of having played it. I still suck at it because it’s not turbo-autist grinding to pick up skills (Much younger me did play a bunch more because much younger me had more free time, leading to an inflated hour count relative to me now). Hundreds of hours on new releases is unhealthy as fuck. If a game’s been out a while, you get a little more leeway. “Oh, it’s just something I do once in a while, that’s just a little once in a while over a long period of time.”

Playing video games is a dopamine trap and the best-designed video games are meant to suck you in and keep you there as long as possible. *jangles keys*
