Someone actually asked him who pays the tariffs, because Chief Justice Roberts said they're taxes paid by Americans. He spouts some word salad that doesn't answer anything, or even means anything.

Really though, if you listen to Trump talk, you realize that he has no idea how a capitalist economy works.
He doesn't know how things are made, how prices are determined, how goods move from one place to another. I think he genuinely does not understand how tariffs work, because he genuinely does not understand how anything else related to the economy works. He has these bizarre conspiratorial views of foreign countries somehow ripping off the US through ways no economist can make sense of and that he can't explain either, but that he is completely certain of and bases major policy decisions on, and if his decisions predictably have negative outcomes, he is too stupid and delusional to rationally assess the evidence.

He once again claims he solved a problem with tariffs that is in reality a result of tariffs. The Chinese stopped buying soy in response to tariffs and pledged resuming purchases in the future in response to the US dropping tariffs. They're also not buying more, but are expected to buy roughly the same as they did before tariffs.
We made a wonderful deal for everybody. Our farmers, as you know, with the soybeans at levels that nobody has ever seen before, we were able to make phenomenal deals. If we didn't have the tariffs, we wouldn't have been able to do that. So we thought we did very well yesterday. We hope that we did.

Theres corruption afoot in every election cycle on both sides, it's the nature of the event. He's the only guy I've ever really seen upset about it, especially to this degree. He treats it like a revelation and not just how government is.
