This year I only had one visit from trick or treaters to my door. Over the past 10 plus years I've been noticing the decline of Halloween and its culture with less halloween parties, less trick or treaters, less decorations etc.
What is causing this? when I was growing up Halloween was the big event before Christmas full of parties and kids singing songs plus fucking about with fireworks but now it feels dead.

I didn't get a single kid at my door, and I live in a subdivision full of them. I think trunk or treat is a popular alternative that's picked up traction in recent years?
 
It's quite surprising, despite it being pretty cold and wet I probably had 75 trick or treaters visit. That's actually more than the last few years. But yes, there's been an overall decline in kids on Halloween it seems. Truck or treat is scourge on this earth and ruins the experience

We don't even have "trunk or treat" here in Ireland the origin of Halloween yet it's still in decline.
 
Trunk or treat, less children, less people owning homes and thus having families, more anti-social individuals, more low trust societal living, more religious people of any religion, etc. Who knows, really. 6 little Mexican kids came to my door and they were the only group.

I don't think trunk or treat is a big problem as people make it out to be. It's a nice get-together where kids can play and busybody moms can mingle. They're usually facilitated by schools so you're bound to already know everyone there.
 
I dunno. Fireworks have been going off for hours now pretty much non stop and even though it was just pissing down rain, like fucking solid sheets of rain, I saw a fair amount of people out trick or treating on my drive home. I even passed a group of teenagers up to some kind of no good, actual teenagers, not niggers. I know there's a couple of areas that are more popular for trick or treaters. Like there's a few streets that really deck themselves out every year so parents tend to bring their kids there for trick or treating rather than going everywhere around the neighbourhood.

All those people got the idea that it wasn't Christian from the Jack Chick types of Christians, oddly enough. Think those people got it from JWs, who think every holiday is actually a Satanic pagan holiday. Even birthdays. It's crazy that something birthday haters said got any traction.
 
Only two groups this year which was massively down from other years. I haven't been at the same place consecutively so I don't know if the trend was constant. I don't know if this is a larger trend or if something happened this year that made our street less attractive.
 
I bought full sized candy bars and everything. Not a single kid knocked on my door. I only had 3 kids knock last year. Kind of a bummer.

I believe a lot of kids are focusing more on technology considering how accessible its getting and they are all trying to get that limited edition creature from some random Roblox game rather than go out trick or treating.
Also didn't see a lot of teens wearing costumes. I am guessing that there are too many foreigners that are alien to the concept of kids going outside to gather candy while playing dress up.

Always thought it was weird for grown adults to dress up in IP costumes. This year it almost seemed the Millennial parents were more invested into the costumes than their children.

I can only imagine what it's like for people who refuse to go to bargain markets.
