Except now, most Southerners, and people who really love their Southern heritage that they hang up the Confederate battle flag, are pro Union as it were. The best way I can think of to describe this, is this flag (which I have seen people unironically fly before):
"Why are you not assuming white people could be illegals at the same rate as browns, when we have had massive immigration issues with our Hispanic border?"
I’m generally far, far angrier at black pedestrians than drivers. The number of times I’ve had them slow to a pimp crawl in a crosswalk because they see white people are waiting is infuriating to even begin to recall. One of these days, I’m afraid I’m going to get my gas pedal confused with my brake because of all the frustration. It will truly be a tragedy.
My favorite example is Marx in a letter to Engles referring to LaSalle as a "jewish nigger" when he was neither, just a shitpost insult. Tracking down that bit of correspondence was hard, but it's one of my favorite bits of candid history.
