I wrote this post without really wanting to make a point or reaching a conclusion, so its more like me just throwing my two cents into the subject, though if I were to summarize it it would be 'The ease of consumption and interaction with the Forum and its Contents for foreigner users'.
Forgive me if its a long post.

I've thought a bit about politisperging, and while I doubt some people want to have yet another autistic thunderdrome, if I remember at some point Null mentioned that it had one of the most site traffic.
With this in mind, at least when it comes to Articles & News, I can think of a couple of points.
1. It would expose the situation and work as a culture exchange point for different countries and nationalities. I believe that the already existig news reports in English from other countries showcases this ability.
2. This could attract people from outside the forum, by serving as a platform for natives to speak in....
3. ...but this would mean that the content should be completely in the native language of the people to attract them, which would isolate English speakers, which it simply is what the website user base is.
4. And at the same time the rest of the site is still in English, which isolates the users to be consuming only these threads, which again would isolate them and could eventually lead to "we have all these people that aren't even talking about lolcows instead being troublesome about their national Internet Cliqué" or similar
I think this is a complicated "issue" to tackle. I know a couple of people that would fit in here to talk about their countries' lolcows but they don't know English / are bad at it, and even just operating the UI and navigating the forum would be an issue for them. For the users that do know English who could be engaging, posting in their own language / threads related to their country would extremely narrow down their possible identities, and as I share this sentiment with a couple of users in this thread, Regarding this, I think it could be the easiest and closest problem to solve with most to gain.

I don't know how far web translating gets nowadays as I don't use Chromium (which has it built-in and enabled by default) so I don't know how useful it could be for the forum, but regarding post translation, from experience on Xitter / Youtube, I often see people in entire different languages engaging in their own languages as they've used the translation feature to translate the post to reply to. Of course, the Interface is all in their own language, so its only user generated content that requires translation.

Regarding other Internationalization points, I've also visited the Self-Sufficency board a couple of times just to read, and simply put, the large majority of content there cannot be applied to European citizens, or at least doesn't seem to, which detracts me completely from posting, and sometimes from reading further because why should I become engaged with a subject I cannot perform irl

We used to have Flashback forum which was once based af, but is now reduced to a reddit clone. A swedish subforum could probably grow pretty fast once the word got out.

I made this exact argument for having a Swedish section on Ylilauta.fi (finnish chan-clone but with updoots and accounts) a few years ago. It didn't manifest.
I've been trying to find internet culture in Swedish for years since Flashback became obsolete.

Of course a Finnish section would be great also, but the competition is to well established.

Another thing is, while I'd like to talk to Russians in Russian about things that are of no interest internationally, I don't actually want to talk to Russians who are too dumb to have learned English by 18.
