I'm not sure what else is going on but I do know that the authorities told Lance to lay low for a while to avoid possible retaliation. That's not case specific that's just police protocol.

He’s obviously very resentful towards his parents, which only makes it more ironic that he still took their money and lived off of them.

His parents are described as extremely devout Mormons. I think parents, of any religion or belief system, have to be less rigid with teenagers or from the ages 16-21 while they start engaging with the world on their own. It sounds like his parents didn’t do this so he ended up trying to 180 degrees from them.

The fact they kicked him out, then subsidized his NEET furry BS, was a terrible choice. Kicking him out to be on his own would have been a far better choice for him and them. All the situation did was allow him to live in some degenerate fantasy world online that had nothing to do with reality. He sought out echo chambers to back up his seething resentment and opposition to his family’s belief system.

I always like the Amish rumspringa. Let the teens get out there, taste what the adult world is really about, then make your choice. This is why the Amish have continued to thrive. After letting their children get a taste of the modern world, 90% chose to return to the fold. Lance might have appreciated his parents and community if he had to make his way in the world on his own terms. He might not have returned to the fold (because he’s probably gay and that makes it a bit harder) but he wouldn’t have had the seething resentment and believed in a lot less nonsense.

The most retarded online lefties tend to come from very comfortable backgrounds. It’s a lot easier to believe in things if it’s all “ideals” and abstract concepts with no reality impinging.
