My brother in Christ, the commonality of the round is not what would distinguish it has high-powered or not. 5.56 is considered "intermediate", 7.62x39 is "intermediate". 30-06 softpoints can punch 1/4" steel, so yes it is a rather particularly powerful round.

Your arbitrary labeling is not how educated conversations about bullets and ballistics are conducted. 30-06 is in fact a fuck off powerful round, objectively. Its benchmark of performance is literally used to distinguish it as such by the NIJ and military contract requirements and R&D.

my very mild take is that it kind of doesn't matter what the political orientation of lone gunmen is because they're typically insane anyway. it'd be important to determine the political leanings if the killings were done by a militia group or whatever but in the case of a lone gunmen they probably just went insane from spending too much time online (much like YOU!)
