Before he was banned for rape and murder, you know everyone there hated him. How are you a local at a bar every day for years but you still drink alone every single time on ur piggish laptop,
This is becoming less common due to a) older people dying off and b) younger generations having the internet as a substitute social life, but this was fairly common with pubs. A place I worked at when I was very new to the industry was a local watering hole for neighborhood people. Real Cheers vibe with how the regulars all knew each other.
There were 2 regulars who would come in and try to force themselves into getting these regulars to talk to them. They were tolerated/humored by the other patrons, were obnoxious after having a couple of pints, and demanded special treatment because they had been 'coming to this bar for X number of years' (something which the other regulars were also doing, but they weren't being cunts about it.)
I've come to learn that most bars will have a couple of folks who are like that, staff and patrons typically just humor them unless they get creepy or violent.
He’s on record saying that he hates when people sit next to him at a bar, especially when he is working*. He thinks so highly of himself, I expect that he believes his mere presence lights up a room and people will gravitate to him to ask about his latest novel. Instead he is a smelly fatty that nurses a light beer for 3 hours whilst theatrically rolling his eyes whenever the waitstaff ask if he wants another beer or some food.
In my experience, folks who come in with their laptops are:
- workaholics who are doing a working lunch or are having a work meeting with someone,
- people who just like the ambience for whatever reason and never divulge what they're working on. They could be a spree shooter finishing their manifesto, the dullest accountant putting together a quarterly report, or the most degen smut writer imaginable, and all anyone who asked them what they were working on would get 'stuff' or 'work' as the only answer
- people using the laptop as a prop as a way to stoke conversation. Either to talk about how busy/overworked they are, how they're not like the plebs because they're doing something 'cool' for work, or really want someone to talk to them about the DOTA 2 esports they're watching. Strangely they all yap/drink far more than they do anything with the laptop.
Given how obnoxious Patty is about #amwriting on social media it isn't hard to deduce where he fucking falls.
