Generally professionals who actually have a career are competent enough to have enough work to keep them busy. Those who aren't competent in a field will generally be the ones with a media presence (look at Nick and half of lawtube).
Reminds me of a time when I was in highschool and they got a lawyer in to give a talk about the profession he gave a great talk tons of charisma and confidence you'd swear he was a veteran of the law world. I had an uncle anyway who was also a lawyer in the area turns out your man was infamously shit at winning cases or even paperwork. So all he could do now was travel around giving talks to school kids. Same generally goes for any professional who gets heavily into the content making side of things.
I've been thinking about this a lot recently for some reason.
Like I've been thinking about what it would take to make content for my career field, the amount of work it would take, all the things I would need to learn/re-learn, and that's just if I did a copy paste of everything else that's out there. If I were to try and come up with something novel and unique? Literally no idea how long that would take to make, and that's not even counting learning to shoot video, edit nicely, and market the content, all of which are their own skills that also take time/dedication to learn.
I actually just remembered a great example:
I was doing some studying/planning and ran into this guys videos. He makes some conceptually interesting videos for IT and cyber security, but if I'm being honest, he's a pretty bad speaker and his overall editing and production aren't very good, so he only has like 12k subs.
That being said, those papers on the wall behind him are certs, the lowest level of which likely still took probably 30 hours of studying, but most of them are not low level, and likely took up to several hundred hours of studying/practicing to earn. I'd guesstimate this guy spent upwards of a thousand hours just on studying for those certs alone, and that doesn't include his degree(s), or just random training he's done that doesn't come with a certificate.
The guy is a great example of what it takes to really get proficient at your job. So when I think about how much this dude had to work just to get to the point he's worth listening to, I have no fucking clue how someone does all that, also gets good at video production and speaking, and then maintains their skills.
I just know it takes so much fucking effort to become good at a lot of jobs, so when you see someone like Anus claim she has "experience" in so many things, it hits even harder just how full of shit she is. Like bitch, when the fuck are you learning all of this?
