As much as I hate the FCC and nearly everything it does, I find it hard to get that upset about people with more money than anyone in the town I live in will ever see in their lifetimes getting fined the equivalent of a speeding ticket or having to go to cable where they can say whatever the fuck they like.

Kimmel will either apologize and go back to his failshow or refuse and go to cable as a "free speech hero" instead of a painfully unfunny jerk. At least Stern and Carlin before him were actually funny at the time (Carlin haters can blow me).

These people aren't funny nor entertaining enough to exist without constant corpo synergistic manipulation. And they don't have the conviction to rough it independently. It's a perfect recipe for failure, I love it.

Look at the big late night lefty host's failed podcast together, Strike Force Five. They had so many huge monied different masters so no one wanted to do the same level of manipulation hype due to many different corpo interests. Sorry to derail but I had to tell some people who’d understand as I left social media when I left the left in 2021..

My Dad is a boomer lib. Considers himself a centrist but is becoming more of an angry MSM consuming shit lib in old age. He works in PHARMA and eats up all the DEI training. He came to visit this week and he knows my views have changed dramatically. He brought up the assassination and we got pretty heated about it. I told him all the media he watches is incredibly biased if not outright lies and he said he was so disappointed that I’d become far right.

This is the kicker. I could not get my Dad to admit that people (democrats) celebrating the death are wrong. I thought surely he would concede on this. He conceded nothing but just went on with whataboutisms and muh both sides.

I honestly don’t know how to continue our relationship. I will for the sake of my kids having grandparents and being civil, but it all feels so hollow knowing I cannot be honest about myself and my family with my own father without provoking liberal rage.

I’m so bummed and angry. I fucking hate feeling so isolated.

He's your dad. Just agree that there are some political subjects you don't talk about, and move forward like that. If he won't stop bringing shit up, just laugh and shrug or feign ignorance ("Charlie Kirk? Never heard of him. DEI? Is that one of those new Korean rock bands? Anyway, crazy weather we're getting these days, huh?")

Model to your own kids that family bonds are more important than disagreements about stupid shit.

Free speech assures you are not punished by the government for speaking openly and brazenly. You cannot be jailed, imprisoned, or killed by government actors for speaking your mind.. Free Speech does not stop people from choosing to, or not to associate with you. We saw the Left use this constantly against other people. Here is my advice, for family. For good or for ill will be there. Unless this circumstance cannot be avoided; and your Father continues to bring up politics, or god forbid; starts pushing it onto your children. You just tell your dad that we don't discuss politics with eachother for the sake of our relationship. He's still your dad, he's still your children's grandfather. You draw the line that if he starts preaching to them.. you might have to consider distancing them until they can decide what is more important to them.

My sister in law (My brother's wife) and I oft speak politics and disagree a lot. I'm moderate right, she's moderate left. We can be cordial and disagree. But we know that if we start butting heads, especially around her children. We drop it and leave it there. There's too much shit out of our control to let it divide us. Her children love their uncle and I am always there for them in spite of our disagreements. If we can RESPECTFULLY disagree. Then the relationship remains strong and true.
