Apropos to this, I was listening to a pop-psychologist the other day and his guest was talking about a trauma and goes “oh shit, do you need to add a trigger warning” and the psychologist went “oh yeah, turns out those do more harm than good”.

A decade plus of absolute yorkie-tier screeching over them and now everyone will just pretend the social contagion didn’t happen.

I think that's just universally true for society, and especially human nature.
I believe everyone, even the most atheistic of our species, yearns for a higher power. And if God isn't a part of their life, they replace it with something else. Be it the government, science, or whatever fits within their ideology.
 
Most extreme leftist action has happened from what would regularly be regarded as fringe or counter-cultural elements of their political spectrum [and the same could be said of the right]. The overton window has moved so quick, that what these people now seem bent on fighting and killing for what was on the precipous of becoming the zeitgeist up until very recently. The violence and coming violence is the last vestiges of an insane ideology that literally snatched defeat from the jaws of victory in the eleventh hour. A defeat not just due to their hubris, but also the depravity and heartlessness of their ideology and it's supposed "morality." The mask has slipped.

The basis of their action has always been lashing wanton malice --self-hatred manifested externally-- but now, in their feelings of helplessness, it will become even more belligerent. The message should be plain to see to any thinking person;

"Disagree with us and we'll kill you."
