Interesting article about Charlie’s progressive sister, who remained devoted to her brother despite their political differences. Their parents are moderate conservatives. It looks like the Kirk family walked the walk in terms of not letting politics kill their familial love.

The way it ought to be. How many friends and family members have we all lost in the past 5, maybe 10 years based upon differences of opinion? It’s real sad stuff. Personally, I cannot tell you how many new-ish acquaintances have voluntarily distanced themselves from me because they discovered that I was conservative leaning. It was an “ew, really” kind of moment for them. Doesn’t say anything about me, but greatly accentuates the flaw in their own character.

Friendships and other bonds shouldn’t be formed or steeped in political views. There is so much more to life than your political affiliation. The left, again, with their propensity to be terminally online and only surround themselves with the types of information they agree with, cannot fathom the thought of enjoying the presence of someone who might have different values.

Doesn’t have to be that way at all, but it’s what they choose to do. Anyone who ever talked to CK in any of his tours could have just as easily shared a beer with him afterwards, but their pride prohibits them from “lowering” themselves to such a degree where they might be able to enjoy a simple moment with their fellow man… who they blindly see as monsters.
