I know pieces of media as examples aren't always the most sincere forms of discussion but on the bingo card of dystopian novels and movies that depict various possible future realities, The Running Man wasn't very high on my list as what would become, but seeing as people are becoming increasingly desensitized to death and destruction from constant media consumption, and the prevalence of the internet to give people an unfounded sense of pride and ego (granted pride and ego is always unbecoming of anyone, regardless of where it comes from), along with the modern day mentality of strutting what "you" got without any sense of reflection or consideration, it probably isn't that surprising of a thing that some people are getting to a point where so long as a person is evil in their perception, than they have every reason to be hunted down and executed in a national tv broadcast for their entertainment and reinforcement of their self righteousness
My guess was more on Brave New World where people are so caught up in their own self hedonistic pleasure that they can't critically think for even 2 seconds (granted that seems to be something that is happening coequally at the same time)

At this point what comes next is a 50/50 split between Running Man and Demolition Man. All restaraunts will be Taco Hell!

ehhhh.... In 2019, when a downtown Salt Lake City protest against the Utah Inland Port Authority turned violent, Zinn was one of five people arrested and taken to jail, KSL reported. Zinn, then 65, was arrested for investigation of disorderly conduct and failure to disperse. The other four people taken to jail were activists less than half his age.

Anecdote: There's a family from my ward whose young son accidentally drowned over a decade ago while they were having Family Home Evening at the bishop's house. Their eldest daughter was about six at the time, and I remember during the wake she was running around the church building and playing with her friends even though her little brother's body was there, and I don't remember her even shedding tears during the funeral even when we all did a musical send-off (Queen's "We Will Rock You", it was his favorite song).

The next year, I had been called as a primary teacher for the seven-year-olds and so I had her in the classroom. As disrespectful as it may have sounded, she was pretty open about talking about how her brother was dead, but even though she missed him, she wasn't sad about it because she knows they will see each other again, and that her brother clearly had a mission that God wanted him to do. Even though it was hard for her parents at the time (especially since they had just had a baby who needed medical attention when their son died), she didn't seem burdened by it. And as far as I can tell from watching her grow up and go on her mission, it didn't hit her as hard as some people think it should've.

That's the thing about being followers of Christ, you are essentially (should be) taught from a young age that life is precious and fragile, and that death has to come for us all because Jesus wants to help us all come back home to be with God, and the best part is that death isn't permanent because we, too, will be raised up to live again like He did.

I'm a member of a Discord (I know) for an online game. One of the members (Pink) posted in the vent channel lamenting how people have been changing their IGN's to make light of Kirk's death. A reasonable complaint. In comes Blue with this original and not at all ghoulish take, probably feeling empowered by recent years of institutional and corporate support for whatever radical Left-wing drivel they come up with. What they probably weren't expecting- I know I wasn't- was the response from the rest of the otherwise normie server, staring with Red here:


I think seeing this empowered Pink to speak up again. Or maybe she was just fed up like the rest of us. Here comes Yellow, too. I think that Lefties celebrating the death of a moderate family man is a terrible look and really bothering people. Like I said, these folks are just normal.
