I suppose I can understand why some may feel this way but I find that wildly optimistic. A lot of guys online are LARPing hard about "No more! Now we take the gloves off!" or similar bullshit. That's funny to me because not a single person that's posted anything like that is going to do shit. They're going to complain on social media or get into Internet slapfights with strangers. That's too bad, too, because if people started retaliating we'd get some fucking hilarious memes out of all of it.
The reality is there is not nearly enough of a unification on one side or the other for war to break out. Look at many, many historical examples of when civil war broke out in different countries and you'll see that certain patterns are always followed. Plus a lot of the people who seem to want war in the US have either never been to war or have a very unrealistic idea of how a second civil war would go in this country. Hint: it'll be nothing like the first one. Probably a whole lot more like how shit went in Syria.

There's a thread on them and similar groups iirc in the community watch section.
Basically, they're groups that go around and target vulnerable young people on games or in discords and get close to them. They use this closeness to acquire compromising shit on the target, and then black mail them into doing sick violent shit, or to extort underaged victims for CP that they then go off and resell. Over time, they try and develop this abusive situation into a sort of stockholm syndrome in order to recruit the victims in, and perpetuate the cycle of nihilistic violence and sexual degeneracy.

People are slinging shit at each other because this is something that this entire fucking forum was founded on.
A prominent political activist for the right that was the representative of "let's talk it out one on one" was assassinated man. So being disappointed that you haven't seen new information after 75 pages of spergposting is kinda odd of you to say. This isn't a lolcow, this is someone that represents one of the key tenets of the way the Farms was founded, so of course it's gonna tangent into other discussions because free speech directly affects a lot of other things and is a cornerstone of a civilized society.
I think it's perfectly understandable people are sperging out when a leftist directly killed someone for disagreeing with his views. Normalization of killing your political opponents should NOT be tolerated, is not protected speech under any civilized First World country, and SHOULD be stamped out, and the left wing gave us the theoretical weapons to punish them with (cancel culture shit) to stop it.
It's a shitshow, but I'm honestly surprised people are "surprised" there's so much tangenting, especially because this brought in tourists from the Highlights.

A lot the flamewars we see really do feel more like online LARPing if anything. We're so stuck to the internet that even our civil wars are restricted to Twitter as opposed to actually going out in the streets and having actual dialogues with real human beings. Kirk was someone who actually did go outside and perform actual dialogues, and where did he end up? Why risk getting hurt when you can just type words online and imagine you're doing something of value as you watch your likes go up, as opposed to meeting up with possible opponents face-to-face. So many people just hide their political standings nowadays and everyone is scared. As unfortunate as it is, I believe as long as people will have the internet, they will happily continue to choose to express their opinions without actually risking anything, and this applies to all sides of the political spectrum. And at this rate, nothing is ever going to be accomplished.
