Depending on the adhesive used, the suspect would likely still have traces of residue or maybe some kind of skin damage in tearing off the prosthetics. I've seen people literally rip a layer of skin off because they just grabbed and yanked.

Now if he didn't use adhesive and just stuck a prosthetic to his face, then he's going to be battling sweat and skin oils. It's going to be hella distracting during the actual assassination, it's going to possibly leave more evidence, ect.

Now if you wanna go tinfoil, we can say that the suspect used temporary cosmetic procedures such as filler to alter his appearance. Whiiiich....would mean then having to take the time to dissolve them.
