It's true that prints are only useful if they've been previously recorded due to an arrest or other recordkeeping event (security clearance, NFA tax stamp, etc.)

Otoh the feds now have a huge database of familial DNA to work with thanks to CODIS and so many genealogical companies engaging in data sharing

Could they have set the rifle on the roof beforehand maybe? Sounds pretty out there but unless we are going full glowop I don’t know what else to think.
 
Is it just me, or is it oddly funny that Donald J. Trump and the Israeli PM seemed to tweet at the exact same minute on two different platforms? Were they on a discord call planning this post or something?

I mean if he ever sprang for TSA precheck or a like system, that will get them on record. The familial DNA is what I'm more interested in at the moment. Could really narrow the net down.

They probably know more than they are letting on, they hold on to evidences to weed out mentally ill people and to avoid wasting time with false reports. Don't worry about it, it's only a matter of time now.
