We have a litany of evidence that this a phenomenon of middle class women with comfy lives pooning out. The mythology of sexual assault causing pooning is not substantiated whatsoever and direct evidence in demographic analysis contradict the claim. If sexual assault drove pooning out, you would see pooners originating predominately from lower class backgrounds that have higher incidences of sexual assault. Pooning is triggered by social interactions with collections of mentally ill women on sites like tumblr, twitter, reddit, and discord. Behind each rotdog is a hive of lunatics cheering them on every step of the way.
Women going on testosterone become ugly manlets because women aren't supposed to have male levels of testosterone. They dress stupid and act stupid because they are innately stupid, mentally ill women. It's not that complicated.

Isn't that a lot of women in general? I swear it's common for women to get overdosed on attention and then getting ugly lesbian bangs and other such butch aesthetics to be free of it, only to end up taking it as a challenge to get laid despite their nontraditional looks. "I'm so desirable I can get laid even like this".
Though in relation to troonydom, I think they simply strive to look like what they want to fuck. You see normal ripped white men lusting for obese black women. Contrast. Then you look at trannies and they look like a couple from The Simpsons: Genetically identical. Though I've no clue why pooners look like clowned-up fujos. I've never seen men who look like these make-up addicted clowns.
Though another tangent: I regretfully log onto Second Life now and then, and the current trend is female-created himbos. They'll talk and dress themselves up like fuckable gay himbos, but they're skinny-fat alcoholic looking men with as much bodyhair as these f2m fetishists. Compare that to actual gay bear-chasing homos and they simply maximize the male factors: Muscles, dick, jawline. It's actually hilarious how women can grow up consuming only yaoi and yet fail to realize what gay men are like.

Yaoi is oftenly written by women for women and has rather tangential relationship with reality. I can't say homosexuals don't read yaoi, but I've never saw one taking it as seriously as a woman would. And same would go for most of the media staring lesbians, since it's oftenly used as a way to put more chicks per square inch of a comic page.

Taking it a little off topic, but I think a lot of this is due to the backlash against "conventional beauty standards" that seems to be popular (among women) these days.
Look in the comments section of any social media ad where the company uses an obese model or ones with ugly vitiligo splotches or -- I even saw a bikini ad recently where the models were all amputees -- and you'll see tons of women cheering them on for how beautiful they are. They get tricked into thinking that ugly is beautiful, and that winds up making its way into their own aesthetic.

I agree with this. It's also why they have weird names you'd find in some comic or book (or even a fic). They want to be like the characters they're romanticizing (and eroticizing). They are their own woobie.
I don't think they're actively trying to make themselves ugly. I just think a lot of them started out fat and gross and choose styles they think are "cool". They don't realize alt styling works for some attractive people because they're attractive and it's often an "in spite of" situation.
This is specifically for the neon green hair types though, I do think a lot of them like trannies legit try to skinwalk a type of real life person they like or even a specific person.

Yaoi men aren't like real homosexuals at all. They're touchy feely caring characters. If they're evil they're manipulative or abusive, not physically aggressive.
