General Wrestling Discussion

ROH died the moment they give the world title to fucking PCO, Tony Khan just took the life support when he bought it and started playing with the rotting corpse like a puppet when he gave the World title to Chris Jericho.

What we see from ROH now is just its rotting corpse getting exhibited and being spit on every week. Not being nearly as good that it once was.
Hey buddy, don't you DARE disrespect PCO 'round these parts, partner.

is it a terrible product right now? yes
That was more of what I was inquiring. I knew that ROH was in a death spiral financially, but I was curious as to how people viewed the product prior them being bought up. This is a bit of a hot take, but I feel like sometimes the best thing a company can do when in such a position is to just die with dignity.

yeah but what if you just live live live until finally WWE says alright TNA, we don't hate you no more. Come here, we'll give you some guys if you compete with the guys we hate now!

I agree 100% with you on that take, after ROH went through, they should've died. The last show before AEW got their check on them was one of the best farewell shows from a promotion of that caliber.

On how it was before getting bought out, they were actually going starting back in their feet. Bandido was a very good champion even though most of his reign got squandered because of the pandemic. And bringing back the Pure title was going great as well, is a shame that they did not too much with it afterwards, but Jonathan Gresham was a good champion as well.

roh died when sinclair brought them up. you should thank cocaine tony that WWE didnt aquire more footage
I dunno, I kind of liked the SCUM stuff and Steen's last run. I think NXT hoovering up all the talent is what killed it. They lost Steen, Generico, Fish, Cole, O'Reilly, Keith Lee, War Machine, Claudio, Chris Hero and more to WWE all within a 4-5 year span.

That was a attempt to drive intrest up enough to get a TV deal.

So it's more like he's trying to reanimate the corpse but the lightning just isn't cutting it.

That's honestly the one move that I can't completely dismiss. I don't have a high opinion of Jericho, but having using his name to bolster the attention of mainstream fans is a logical move to make. Not that anyone enjoyed it, but that was more the fault of Jericho for being shit in the ring because he refuses to adjust his style to account for his diminishing health. There's a reason that AJ Styles doesn't do the Spinal Tap anymore.

I mean ROH is getting bigger attendances and selling more ppvs than literally ever. It was not some glorious gigantic company. rehabbing ROH didn't mean it had to become huge because it was never even close. He probably considers it far beyond rehabbed because despite it being kinda worthless it's doing better than literally ever numbers wise. some of the PPVS have had 4500 fans, that is literally double triple or quadruple most of the best ROH attendances pre Tony and it's likely costing him almost nothing to run it.'

is it a terrible product right now? yes, the weekly episodes are AEW dark with a new name, but the people pretending ROH would flourish without him and was hugely successful ever are weird. Without him it's just an occasional clip in WWE documentaries and otherwise fucking dead.

This is sort of what I mean by if Evil WWE did this to ROH people would be losing their shit but since Tony is trying really, really hard and doing his best it's okay that the gobbled up fed is floundering. They had a bit of a bump initially (and when they had actual names and talent people wanted to see) but they seem to be slumping now -- their last Supercard had an estimated 1500 in attendance.

For what it's worth, the folks who have made allusions to TNA and Bellator are likely on the ball, but for the moment, TNA has been benefiting from their partnership with WWE, and that can't really be disputed -- having AJ show up, getting their best gate ever, likely getting what will be their best TV deal either ever or since their Spike TV days, etc.

Papa Howler would’ve been a top guy in wrestling if he was 10-15 years younger or 5-6 inches taller.
Like I said before, he was in his 20’s in the 80’s but he’s under 6 feet tall. We all know that you had to be over 6 feet back then to be a star. By the time a guy his height could become a top guy, he was too old for it.

The Micheals comparison is funny cuz I’m picturing it now and honestly I’d have paid to see my Dad in a long term program with HBK in the 90’s. Would’ve been big dimes.

Leftoids have literally tried to ruin wrestling at every turn. Fuck you and the horse you rode in on, retard.

D-Von and Tony Atlas says he wasn’t and honestly I believe them more than Mark Henry.
They knew Hulk better.
Name examples of these supposed leftoids conspiracy to ruin muh rasslin

How does HHH's cock taste?
I didn't mention HHH at all. But I can tell you're a complete retard so I won't hold it against you.
Vince Sr was supposedly a fan of the white meat, all american boy babyface as champ.
Sr went with ethnic heroes for his babyface champions Bruno, Pedro and Bruno again. I wonder what made him decide to go with the all American boy.
Backlund, despite his vanilla promo ability,
Batshit crazy heel Backlund was great. I'm not sure if that personality was always there or not. But if it was could you imagine crazy heel Backlund vs Hogan?

TNA Emergence tonight. Nothing sticks out to me other than Hardys/Rascalz. Honestly more excited about AAA tomorrow. I've always wanted to give Lucha a serious try but I'm not learning spanish just to watch more wrestling. What i've seen of AAA i've really enjoyed - it's essentially Russo-era TNA but more flippy. I'm concerned WWE is going to nerf all the fun stuff (copyrighted music, heel American gimmicks).

I never said anything about conspiracies you tardbreath.
Leftoids have infected wrestling to the point where we have the shit we see in AEW.
Look at the crowds in AEW…Weirdo leftoids.
"We Want Kross" broke out ? fucking ashamed of these retarded zoomers in my state thinking they are actually fighting for anything, had I actually bought tickets I probably would have told them to fuck off so good thing I skipped out on this one.
You’re breaking my heart…

There is no bigger sin in the wrestling business to me as a consumer than being boring, and this man is the definition of boring. Go away forever, please be a shoot.

IMG_4480.webp

That leaves only about 35 more incredibly boring wrestlers on the TNA roster.

It was a quiet chant for like 5 seconds in a crowd that was dead as hell anyway. I barely even noticed.

Otherwise Smackdown was pretty lame tonight. The crowd of corpses didn't help anything, and no Cody, Cena, Orton, Logan, not even Damian. This is the most star vacant smackdown in quite a while.

I thought OVE was ok a few years back but outside of a few matches, he's just the dude that spits and slobbers on everyone.

Yeah that was weird how there was no Cody guess they were trying to sell the injury

I don’t mean like Kross fans in general but the Gen Z twitterfags who are absolutely obsessed with controlling every aspect of how WWE is booked while i do believe Kross could have been used in maybe a US title capacity I think HHH should just ignore guys who try to hijack the show, we all know of the disaster of 2014 and no one wants them to get that level of power again considering how bad the rest of the decade was
