I’m leaning towards it not being kayfabe
It wasn't, this "I'm preteting to be retarded" always comes out as cope, and it really doesn't stick here because Sam Hyde doesn't seem to be a person to suffer fools for a "bit".

Shit is simple, nobody likes to be on the receiving end of this bullying comedic style that Sam Hyde does, when the objetive is to make people uncomfortable.

It's all well and good when you are the one pressing the buttons, but when it is their turn on the chair, it is always the same people who pushes for this sort of "comedy" the ones who chimp out the hardest.

And it doesn't even have to be about "comedy", it is more about behaviour. Take a look at Ethan Ralph, he build his name over bringing people over his show to be public humiliated, but a couple of people making fun of his gunt made him lose his shit so hard that such was his spiral that now he lives in a shack in Mexico.

So no, it wasn't a bit, it wasn't an comedic act or whatever, Sam Hyde got butt hurt and chimped out because he was in the wrong side of the grift, simple as that.

I thought the story was MDE had great ratings?
i don't understand what you're arguing for besides just picking the winning side and trying to score points for being correct

you're saying that the gatekeeping that the media was doing during that era was keeping content like world peace off of the air because it ostensibly isn't profitable and the purpose of the gatekeepers is to maintain profitability. that's how i think most people would describe the purpose of media gatekeepers. but the show pulled in like two million viewers at 3am, that's insanely ridiculously good for a late night watershed television block that normally runs infomercials. the whole purpose of a cable network is to cut time slots into marketable segments and they literally gave them exactly what they were paid to do

so this flip flopping to "but king of the kill brought in 3x the viewership at 7pm prime time" is just... you're literally arguing against yourself dude. what is it? are they gatekeeping for money, or gatekeeping for ideology? because it obviously wasn't the money
World Peace was a bad product that actually lowered ratings across the whole brand, it got 700k viewers the first episode carried forward by Tim and Eric and fell to 400k for every one after. The following show Dr Steve Brule was getting 500k-600k a mere 15mins later. Viewers were tuning out because of World Peace. When they axed World Peace and just stuffed reruns of Robot Chicken they were getting 700-800k viewers. World Peace was a flaming pile of dogshit on the stoop of the Adult Swim executives and its no fucking wonder that they shitcanned it. If it was pulling Rick and Morty numbers (2M+) they'd have some sort of justification to ride out the storm, instead they had some primadonna /pol/ sperg being an annoying piece of shit while running a bad product in a prime slot. Nick and Charls were right to be pissed with Sam because 12:15pm Saturday night(technically Sunday morning) is as cherry a time slot you could ever ask for.

Everyone is making real, actual money working with Sam now. If they leave they go back to nothing. That's just the facts and they realize that now.
This really needs to be drilled into peoples heads.

Also I don't think the group harbor animosity towards each other anymore after that 2 years of on and off touring together in a van.

Yea and this time when he did it to someone who wasn't 17 or half of his size it spectacularly backfired. And we found it funny. So we discussed it. More confused at what you're confused by. The guy had a 600 page LolCow thread before any of this ever happened.
I'm confused by everyone psychoanalyzing this, pinning it to the homepage of this site, and flaunting it as though it were a significant event that's left Sam and crew devastated in some career-defining way. It was a silly podcast episode and I thought it was funny, but I think that's as far as it goes. It sounds like you'd agree so you should understand my confusion on the matter.

It definitely proved Canadian old guard comedy remains the G.O.A.T

This is pure cope, it doesn't have to be a "The Band's Breaking up" level event for it to still reflect pretty poorly on Sam who's at least been trying post Idubbbz to paint himself as a wacky goofy fun guy who can take a joke and, y'know, talks about the Jews here and there.

Harland, hardly by even trying, got under his skin, made him lose his cool and look like an ass on a relatively large platform, I don't get how that isn't feature worthy.

Jay is literally one of Sam's writers. Jay, Alex, and Charls have all commented on the episode post-launch and don't seem bothered by it.

That was one of the funniest podcasts I've seen in a long fucking time. I'm a fan of Sam Hyde but it was delicious watching him get put on his back foot. After the physical act of toppling the table and wrestling with Harland, he seemed to ease into the improv more and it was awesome. Harland is unflappable and I think Sam came to respect that.

Harland did all of this 1v6 as well, youtube ""comedians"" can't compete with the old guard
Charls is kind of funny. Nick can banter well but isn't a comedian. Everyone else accompanying Sam may as well put on a dress and makeup, all they seem to be are his personal bitch entourage.

Yeah this is what I'm talking about. Nothing they're saying would imply they take this seriously.

HEY THAT'S CEO ERICK HAYDEN YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT!!

I am going to be that guy, but this is the only place besides Breadtube comment sections where people complain about Sam "being a real problem"
You'd be surprised how many leftists quietly use this site to freely bitch about people they don't like. Not very many, but more than you'd think.

This thread has been extremely chill about 65% of the time and then it gets featured so people who don't usually care come in and say "can't believe this fag is still relevant haha and by the way I'm a transexual" then Channing will come back with one of her alts to tell us all about the time Sam raped a 15 year old. Null has tried to reroll this thread several times to turn it into a proper lolcow thread but it just refuses to budge. Some of the best posters have been banned for what I'm sure are perfectly good reasons but somehow the thread keeps staying relatively chill and it will bounce back in a couple days.

I find Sam funny but am able to admit when he fucked up. I don't guzzle his cum and think he's never missed a shot he took.

My reason for being here is I am infinitely amused:

  • by autists who can't read social cues accusing others of being autistic
  • "muh kayfabe" retards who think knowing what kayfabe means is a mark of intelligence and need to use it as much as possible.
  • Sam Hyde fanboys who think the guy has never missed
Just don't know how you can look at two dudes literally gritting smiles through their teeth patting each other on the back roughly and fake-smiling about "what a great guy you are" and think that's a legitimate expression of admiration between two men.

It seems clear to me that Sam just assumed Harland was a HOLDS-UP-SPORK-PENGUIN-OF-DOOM kinda guy and decided to blow up the podcast.

And it's been mentioned a few times but if anyone cares for a laugh look up Harland's appearance on Joe Rogan itself or the Redbar coverage of it (if you like Redbar which I'm sure everyone here hates him lol). He unraveled Joe in a similar fashion and really exposed him for being an unfunny douche with a stick up his ass. Just funny to see it happen to Sam.
