If Musk wants to not be a total asshole to the right-wing (who welcomed and tolerated him despite his autism) he could try running in middle class/somewhat affluent high-tax Democrat states in the New England area (Delaware) or California where he might receive the most backing from the local elites and is least likely to fuck over Republicans in the process.

Fiscal conservativism isn't really attractive at the moment to a voter-base whose main priority is seeing illegals dealt with. I'd gladly may a fifth extra in tax for an entire presidential term if at the end of said term the number of illegals had been reduced to 0 (and assuming I'd then stop paying that extra fifth in tax after it was dealt with).
