I was “default” left. I watched Jon Stewart for infotainment. Viewed leftists as the cool and edgy group. Right wingers as pearl clutching pansies. My friends were all “leftists” too but we said faggot, nigger, etc. Leftist identity politics, Biden’s economy, and the devastation caused by mass illegal immigration woke me up politically.

I started realizing how often mainstream media lied and gaslit. In recent years the anti-white hatred wore me down. Trans entering women’s sports. Discord freaks pink pilling children. The push by sex pest teachers for genitalia reassignment on kids.

It’s pretty hard to be apolitical these days I think. Growing up Dems and Republicans were more similar than they were different. You can see that Obama laid the groundwork for the world we live in now. The greatest lie the media sold is that tea party republicans were the first to draw blood.

The Democrats under went a gradual transformation to reach the position where they are now. Clinton was fine with outsourcing factories, going against the labor movement and giving pardons to clandestine paramilitary groups (the events of Waco, Texas also happened during his term). In a way where they are now is just a natural conclusion to the ideas they supported decades ago.

Republicans were going through some changes to but Trump kind of flipped the table entirely (his arrival was preceded by things like the Tea Party movement which showed dissatisfaction with the GOP status quo to be fair) or at least was far more charismatic then the opponents he went up against in 2015 and 2016.

Nothing exists in a vacuum. Often the issues and politics of today had their seeds planted many, many years ago.

The issue with Starship is worse than that. He doesn't just want a reusable rocket, he wants a reusable deep space rocket that can be relaunched 1 hour after landing with little or no rework. This is Musk in 2020:

Like you could have scheduled maintenance, or you could have something like a squawk issue just like commercial aircraft. But the only thing you expect to change on a regular basis is propellant. And it's got to be fast.

Now for the ship, unless you're launching due East from the equator, you've got to figure out some way to get the ship orbital ground track to pass over the landing site. Otherwise you're too far away. So the ship might take 3 orbits, 4 orbits maybe to get back over the launch site.

But I think we want to aim for a capability of 3 flights a day for the ship, most of which is taken up with getting the orbital ground track to come over the launch site. And then an hour for everything else.

Reentry heat from deep space is on the order of 4,500 degrees Fahrenheit. Even if they launch the thing with enough reserve fuel for a controlled reentry (which has its own massive problems), the Shuttle hit about 3,000 degrees on reentry. In order for any of this to work, Musk needs somebody to invent a material that can withstand multi-thousand-degree temperatures, the insane pressures that come with it, plus the beating it takes when it lands on solid ground or is caught by the claw arm or whatever, and withstand it so well that you trust it for immediate reuse. No material like that exists. No material even a little bit like that exists. No material like that ever will exist, because the nature of space flight and reentry is so traumatic that under no circumstances should you ever trust your life to a reentry vehicle that's only had an hour of prep & check-up. This is Stockton Rush-tier delusion about what can be done safely.

When I realized that the evangelical right wasn't just a republican phase but a human phenotype the modern left makes sense. These people don't genuinely care about these causes - they care about appearing like they are virtuous and better than other people. When the evangelical right went out of vogue and they lost their power they migrated to the next socially accepted ideology that could give them that holier than thou pomposity. That's why you see so many Karens at these protests.
