As someone who actually went through boot camp, then Marine Combat Training, then MOS school, then 2 different duty stations with one being a schoolhouse enviroment and being a POG. The times spent on close order drill outside boot camp, and Corporal's course consisted of forming up in formation and a little bit of spice for PT. Other than that it just did not happen. As a previous poster said there are "units" that specialize in Drill and Ceremonies, because that is their only job and their MOS. There are not to many of those units and they are SMALL. Maybe a full platoon or two (maybe a whole company level of personnel). The rest of the military just does not use it because they are either doing their job, trining to kill shit, or killing ship. Hell even on ship when a majority of Marines have nothing to do, it wasn't worked on...you know what was? The above listed things.
