Wars being unjustified, or a waste of life is a very common sentiment for everyone of every nation for every war ever fought. You could say, and reasonably argue every war the US has ever been involved was an unnecessary war, and/or a started by a lie except the revolution. However because a war is unjust, or happened because of a lie doesn't mean we shouldn't honor the actions of the brave men that fought them. If anything we owe the veterans of Vietnam, or Iraq more respect because they were asked to fight for a lie. We should be more keen of their actions, their sacrifices, of the men who didn't come back alive because we have a duty to them, and the next generation of Americans to not get entangled in unnecessary foreign affairs. And given Trump's recent refusal to get involved in Iran on behalf of Israel, it seems he knows that lesson.
