If you want to actually try and sway someone's mind and not get into a pissing match where all you do is yell at the other person this is probably the best way to go about it. Another thing to do is, in a very inquisitive and benign tone, ask very simple questions designed to make them question their own beliefs. Questions such as:

• "What makes you say that?"
• "Who told you that?"
• "Do you have any more details?"
• "Where'd you read that?"
• "Can you send me a link to that?"

This absolutely works btw, I've been doing this for years to my friends who were getting a bit too deranged.

At the VERY least it makes them stop talking about politics because it makes them feel stupid

I am not sure it's been posted yet but yesterday San Antonio had a mayoral election and the results are in. Republicans lost the election. But in 2023 the election was D+39. Yesterday it was D+8 points. A gain for Republicans by 31 points in two years.
