US Pornography websites must now verify user ages after Arizona governor signs bill into law - Multiple other states have passed similar legislation, although not without facing lawsuits arguing that the requirements violate free speech rights ensured by the First Amendment.

Arizona law will soon require pornography websites to verify a user’s age before granting access.

Gov. Katie Hobbs signed it into law on Tuesday amid a slew of legislative actions.

The law will require websites where more than one-third of the content is pornographic to use “reasonable” age verification methods to ensure that users are at least 18 years old.

Republican State Rep. Nick Kupper, who sponsored House Bill 2112, said the law will hold adult websites responsible if they fail to protect children.

“Arizona families have had enough,” Kupper said in a Tuesday announcement. “Hardcore pornography has been just one click away from kids for too long, and the companies behind it have looked the other way while cashing in.”

How will new Arizona law on pornography websites work?

The new law mandates that websites must use reasonable age verification methods that don’t store or share personal information.

Additionally, the law sets groundwork for parents to take legal action if their child accesses pornography online.

The verification can be through a digital ID or other commercial methods as long as they don’t store or transmit identifying data.

Pornographic websites that fail to adequately protect children could face civil penalties of up to $250,000 if a failure to verify age enables a minor to accesses adult content.

Multiple other states have passed similar legislation, although not without facing lawsuits arguing that the requirements violate free speech rights ensured by the First Amendment.

websites where more than one-third of the content is pornographic
How is that calculated? First you have to give a standardized guideline on what constitutes as pornography and then scan your database for how much of that content exists out of all that is hosted on your site. But then what if your a clever jew and flood the site with cat pictures as part of a whole new cat pictures hosting board to your site and suddenly now the hardcore porn is a mere 1/4 of media on your site?
If your gonna try to police the internet atleast go all out and try to do something since your gonna fail no matter what you do. It's bizarre to see something like this happen in america it makes us look like britain which is sickening to think about.

Hardcore pornography has been just one click away
I hate this overuse of the word hardcore, all porn is bad just like all drugs are bad in that its a gateway.

My initial thought was the opposite scenario, doesn't it become easy to mark a site as being pornographic by mass spamming porn? I know its a common reddit tactic to do something similar. You could get sites age restricted with enough time and bots.

I think any website worth a damn and that redditors would want taken down would have an admin responsible enough to just delete the spam and or shut down registration much like kf has done from time to time. Besides im pretty sure a redditor would find it much easier to use the classic glownigger tactic of spamming child porn as they would have a much larger supply to spam with.

Oh no, the ad-laden commercially-produced porn site wants my information. It's not like I can't just immediately boot up reddit or Discord, use an account sharing site to skip verification completely, it's not like these guys are going to be trying too hard to comply beyond the bare minimum required by law, or even enter a DM chain on the notorious doxxing deathsite Kiwi Farms (not that I browse there, heh heh) to get my porn fix.

Additionally, the law sets groundwork for parents to take legal action if their child accesses pornography online.
So parent fails in basic duty of bringing up child; Daddy Goberment decides to impose the parental duty on website operator (also requiring adults to disclose identity); also rewards parent for parental failure.

"Think of the children!" - the battle cry of the authoritarian through the ages.

This seems to target porn that no one under 30 actually uses compared to Snapchat, Discord, WhatsApp, etc. Great some old dudes will need to verify their age to access Brazzers, meanwhile Holden age 12 is freely accessing Hungarian fart fetish videos his friends shared with him.

There is at least one MtF kvetching right now that this is trans genocide. "Without porn I would have never discovered my true self" yeah we know

The most retarded part of these laws is basically no site enforces it anyway. Even if they did, they're so trivial for anyone to bypass even without a VPN.

Even if it was effective, the types of people who need to have access to porn taken away are the coomers who get it from Reddit, Discord, and Xitter.

Personally I think the best way to handle restricting childrens access to adult content is to make it easy for parents to block sites on their home network. Have a site blocklist and educate parents on how to use it. That way you don't end up with these retard proof of ID laws.

That, and the sites who adhere to this shit has most major, cut down modern pornos. If you want the full versions, you can find them for free and if you were wanting vintage stuff you've got to look for it anyways. There's basically no reason for anyone to use pornhub and the likes in modern year bar amateur porn. But even then, that exists for the sake of advertising only fans.

I don't think it's being overused here, it specifies that you aren't talking about nude Renaissance art or marketing with babe imagery in it, prevents frivolous legal action.
What about Sabrina Carpenter? I hear the over sexualized midget is pretty popular with the tweens while she sings about getting spit roasted.
