Sadly for the Pakistanis the good lord saw fit to make sure ALL and I do mean ALL of their fresh clean drinking water in their rivers originates in India, Its almost comical when you look at the map of it.
Geographically Pakistan is just a province of India, a big one, similar how California is to USA (in more ways than one) but nothing more than a state.
Pakistan's fresh water is from the Indus river (the same river as the ancient
Indus Valley Civilisation). It originates in the northeast in the
Hindu Kush Mountains (western Himalayas). The same location previously occupied by the
Indo-Greeks (left over from Alexander the Great).
This region is generally referred to as Kashmir and is being fought over.
The last non-Muslim population resisting conversion are the
Nuristanis. Their genetically related neighbors, the
Kalash, had the same religion as the Nuristanis, but were forced to convert to Islam. Here are some pictures of these peoples.
An entertaining movie set in this region is The Man Who Would Be King (1975) starring Sean Connery and Michael Caine. Based on a Rudyard Kipling book.
Not only are these peoples in Kashmir genetically distinct, but the nations of Pakistan and Bharat (India) are also distinct. Pakistan is 25% AASI (Ancient Ancestral South Indians), while Bharat/India is 50-75% AASI. AASI are Dravidians closely related to Australian Aborigines, and are what make Indians dark skinned. The dark green color in this chart shows AASI; the light green is "ancient aryan". The Kalash are third from the top, and are the least Dravidian mixed (besides the Asiatic Hazara).
