Tesla didn't benefit from the EV mandate. It was specifically crafted to fuck Tesla over so other car companies could take over the EV market.

So why would Elon or Trump care that the EV mandate was killed? It was literally corruption designed to fuck with the natural flow of the market.

The opposite is true. The EV tax credits are only for the first certain number of cars sold and Tesla's eligibility has long expired. Musk favors ending the credit to hinder Tesla's competitors. He's basically pulling up the ladder behind himself.
