He specifically said tourist visa in his tweets so he must either be retarded or something else is going on. Perhaps wanted to get a proper visa to guarantee entry since with an ESTA they can still technically reject you when you arrive.

Quite possibly, as you say CBP can refuse you entry with an ESTA. I think he's been rejected by the ESTA computer. An ESTA is like 15 bucks and you just apply online, it's all tied to your passport electronically so you don't even need to print it out. Completely painless process. The US visa process is a pain in the butt, I've had to go through it for work (not as a tourist) and it's very thorough.

you can also get denied ESTA and VWP if you visit certain countries the US hates like north korea, sudan, and some other examples i can't remember, but it's completely unlikely f1nn5ter went to any of those, and, as explained a few posts back, it was for overstaying last time. supposedly.

You need an ESTA (essentially an automated visa you get online) I believe to visit from the UK for short periods of time (up to 90 days at a time), for longer periods of time you need a travel visa. Also you need to apply for a travel visa if your ESTA application is denied. I really doubt his ESTA got denied honestly, he probably applied for a visa first for some reason, which got denied upon closer inspection of who he is, or he just is bad at filing paperwork.
