I love a long deep dive, especially if it's something niche and you can tell gbe creator made rhe video for themselves and their 10 autistic friends first and foremost.

Then you have channels like Creetosis and PatricianTV. First I didn't mind but then they started to get in to retarded slapfights with eachother who made the best 24h videos on Bethesda games.
Dropping callout vids and responses on eachother and as a normal person you just see it and start wondering how the hell we reached these kinda levels of unwrangled autism.
Fucking retarded all of it. Luke is at least keeping his head down from what I know, just dropping vids but when you find yourself in a pissing contest on who makes the best Bethesda nitpick videos you should really start thinking of getting some Canadian Healthcare.

One of the channels I would watch for fun or fall asleep to and I would leech the games he had on and were new to me. (Steam? LOL)
Those games with I think maybe one exception have long since left my system and my collection. They all sucked ass.
Then last year he reviewed some movie or some shit (WTF) and I suddenly noticed his tired old shtick and snapped out of it.
I tried one or two of the vids that came after with a few months in between and it turned out there is nothing in it for me.
Guy is done and in it for the money. Fine with me but my eyeballs ain't contributing if your content is lame.

I’ve only watched one of his videos, but he comes across as the type of YouTuber who would purposely omit details or add rumors to a story just to make it seem more mysterious than it really is. Also, I'm not a fan of supernatural stuff, and from looking at his video thumbnails, it seems that he leans into that type of stories.

I don't hate him either, but it really feels he does everything he can to stretch every last detail of any story, including things not remotely needed. Like just get to the fucking point, man.

To be fair the entire "true crime" industry is nothing but wannabe writers who think they're the next Truman Capote exploiting horrible tragedies for their own profit and ego, specifically shows like Dateline, and youtube true crime slop is just sluts who have serial killer obsessions getting clicks from 40 year old virgins or drone-voice autists doing their "best" Lester Holt impression. The line of work is incredibly low-effort too, it's just reading wikipedia articles and occasionally showing a photo or video clip

He lost a lot of credibility with me when he tried selling obviously fake Reddit posts as real paranormal stories. Also, most of his content now can be boiled to, "sympathetic guy dies horrifically at his job." That's not intriguing or mysterious, it's just depressing.

The real problem here is that even when a YouTuber like ProJared "retires," he still manages to haunt your search results half the time. In his thumbnails, it’s as if he’s having a little too much fun with the scent of his own farts.

Then there’s this guy—Ryukhur, or whatever he’s called. He’s got this utterly pointless ZZ Top beard, and despite being known in Mario circles, all I ever see is him making that insufferable face over every Final Fantasy video.

It's a vicious cycle -- if I had to guess, they just have a machine learning algorithm trying to figure out which videos get clicks and which don't, and at some point it turned out this shit gets more clicks, so it gets recommended more often, so it gets more clicks, and so on... I'm sure some of it is just genuine human psychology, but I'm sure that AI-powered recommendations make it way worse.

This goes for countless other trends. Some examples off the top of my head: beginning every gaming challenge video with "Can you beat...," writing most other video titles in the first-person "I just did X.", and one of my most hated ones: removing numbers from the titles of multi-part series because people are less likely to click "part 4" of something in their recommendations. Add in all the thumbnail stuff and it's no wonder YouTube looks like a homogeneous slop, even if you try to seek out genuinely good stuff. And that's not to mention all the horribly transparent engagement bait tactics ("uhhh, hey guys, go ahead and leave a comment letting me know what YOU think about..." -- they don't give a shit and probably won't even read your comment).

It's too risky for YouTubers to actually innovate because there's nothing in it for them. That's why most of the time the only good channels are the ones not desperately trying to make it a career; they can just make what they like without constantly worrying about gaming the system.

For me it's Botchamania and Promo Joey, who have functionally become the same channel since they share the same reels, editing style(with one exception), jokes and fan submitted edits. They're youtube channels once dedicated to making bi-weekly showcases of wrestling botches(mistakes and goofs, since wrestling is a live show).

1. Actual botch reels have been relegated to sub one minute reels that are extremely heavily edited to avoid copyright claims, and probably because each creator wants to suck up to wrestlers on twitter so they don't showcase their mistakes too heavily.
2. Has more or less become a series of extremely unfunny skits and repetitive jokes being played after some wrestling event or another. Examples include
   1. Endless simpsons short clips being played in their full length because that's comedy.
   2. Extremely poor attempts at sound mixing wrestling promo clips with some popular song, or a recent meme. Again these are usually played out for a duration longer than it reasonably should be, if you've watched any amount of Critical Drinker and noticed his overuse of a library of five or so memes it's that times ten.
   3. Making skits and sections revolving around the AEW commentators talking about whatever, many of which constantly reference botchamania and I'm sure are baiting him to include them in the videos.
   4. The same but with fan signs referencing some video game or some british comedy show or some fucking simpsons clip
   5. In promo joe's case it's also really badly done blender videos with mediocre AI voice dubs of the wrestlers and these go on forever.

a lot of wrestling channels are just terrible now, a shit ton of videos are just [COMPANY] LE BAD ! and said videos dont even contain substantive Criticism, just crying about booking they personally dislike

The topics are always interesting, but I'm so sick of hearing his leftist viewpoints being inserted into it. The difference is that Half as Interesting will insert it as a snide joke, whereas Wendover Productions will sneak it in in a more serious way. Either way, wasted channels.

Vince Vintage should be a channel I really like, but something about him seemed like he was some turbo lefty, which his most recent video definitely confirmed. It's a shame.

sourcebrew is a name you probably would only know of if you watch iceberg videos, but if you do, you've seen him before. He is easily one of the worst researched of them all.
