I know there's a lot of talk about wanting to ban junk food and soda from being able to be purchased on EBT. The problem with regulating what the peasant class can and can't do is that when does it stop? First they'll say you can't buy shit with EBT. Then they'll start regulating what you can and can't use Social Security funds for.

Look. I get the idea of wanting to make food and other shit healthy again, but shotgunning and going all militant about it is a good way to get the people (who were initially on your side) pissed off all over again. In the end, no one will do shit. You need to give people a choice. You can give them the information, it's up to them exercising their own free will over it. You can't just force someone into a new way of living and expect it to go well. See what happened with Prohibition?
I think like with most things a carrot and stick approach might be useful. Let's use sodas vs juice just as a generic example. You can still buy soda, but if you buy juice, it cost you half as much, or you get twice as much snap to buy it. Sure it would be unwieldy and take a bit to roll out, but that could still be done. Keep in mind as well, punishing products that use HFCS might be another way to fix it. The corn subsidies is part of that, BigAg is a thing, but slap a excise tax on it (think cigarettes or liquor)

This obesity shit needs to be fixed, it's out of control!

News was saying the protections on mountian islands are so strong they would possibly let an interfering human die before they would shoot the lion

Its safe, knocked out, wrapped up in a poncho in the back of a ford ranger.
It’s really unfortunate. They kill people’s dogs all the time.
But if there’s one good thing to come out of my state’s stupid protection of mountain lions, it’s that it gave us quite possibly the cheesiest music video of the 1980’s

You guys remeber when I told you our Truman aircraft carrier got run into by a bulk carrier, we now have some images of the damage.

Ship nerds, you know how bad damage like this is? is this more or less superficial or will require more serious repair?

read that its the ships incinerator behind there

Hope your doing alright boss, I always love seeing you post <3
Send in Red Green with some ducktape and pvc pipes and he will fix it right up

I really really really love that these clowns continue to pontificate and lie for like 30 to 40 mins AT A TIME

WHO ON EARTH DO THEY THINK IS WATCHING THIS?

Ill tell you exactly how many, I searched for senate live, sometimes CSPAN will show it to, but only this fox channel is showing the broadcast.

Within that broadcast there are only 2.7 thousand weirdos like me actively making fun of them.

Id wager less than 1,000 left leaning people will EVER hear these comments or see these expensive taxpayer funded PowerPoint slides that needed to be printed out for some reason.

They arent being disseminated into tik toks, they arent being pumped artificially by bloggers and small creators, hell even their media apparatus is far to high strung to care about senator stump speeches.

its like a dream watching the dems try to resort to bush era politics while their base just sits around waiting for someone else to fix the problem, its better than I could have written it.

But keep going Mr, Murphy, one more poster will change 70% of Americas mind, you are almost there.

local talk radio guy ranting about Lindsey Graham
"he's against Putin because he's a flaming GLOBALIST! he might be a flaming something else too, but..."

>congestion has dropped dramatically
because nobody wants to live in the city anymore, let alone commute to it, especially since you made it worse.
>broadway shows are selling out
>school buses are getting kids to class on time

pressxtodoubt.jpg
>foot traffic to local businesses are spiking
Yea and don't you think that's going to make busses and trains more like sardine cans than they were before you dumbass? Just ask the Japanese what that's like.

The corn subsidies thing needs to definitely be looked at. Most everything contains some amount of corn syrup (which is horrible for anyone).

Not a Trumper, but....
1: You say that Elon's comment about giving every American 5000 dollars would not cause inflation and would not be a big deal, but republicans kept saying how the war in Ukraine was costing America to much money even though giving every American 5000 would cost more then America has spent on Ukraine the entire war.
Ukraine spending is always new spending they have to approve, they haven't swiped the card yet. Reallocating already borrowed money that's accruing interest doesn't borrow more. It's still a dumb idea, but there's a difference between new Ukraine spending and existing money.

2: How does America giving up on Ukraine benefit America ? ?Ukraine talked about a 500 billion dollar mineral deal meanwhile giving up would on America nothing and make all the previous money spent a waste.

Sunk cost fallacy. If I've already lost $200 at the casino, I don't keep spending the rest of my money hoping to hit a jackpot.

3: Be honest why do you hate European countries so much ? The majority of Americans are European and even if you are not as an American Europe is your spiritual motherland. If you want to be able to keep up with China at a time when China is making inroads with other countries for deals you can't alienate your base, if you want to support Israel (I don't know why you would but the majority of Trump voters do) then you shouldn't alienate Europe t a time when more and more are getting stick of Israel and recognizing Palestinian state

Because IDGAF about israel/Palestine or China. Why can't eurofags stop trying to influence us into being another authoritarian broke shithole like they are?

I fucking loved Russians until they invaded Ukraine. And even then, the problem was that they announced bff status with China right before they pulled the trigger.

And I get all the nuance. I know about Russian expansion in Georgia and other former Soviet states, and I know about US geopolitical “bearbaiting” and Soros funded faggotry..

It’s not that I blame them more than half, but I was sorely disappointed. The US intelligence community is fucking retarded for ever failing to weigh the cost benefit curve of alienating Russia until they went team China. It left us needing fucking India
I was fine with Putin doing what needed to be done in Russia and I always thought the American foreign policy of treating Russia and Putin as the devil was always retarded and we should have made diplomatic ties with him decades ago, but I'm not going to defend the invasion of Ukraine.
I also don't believe using the same words as Russian propaganda and favoring Russia in the concessions is good for our country, our allies, and only emboldens our enemies. The war needs to end, but not in such a way it makes all of eastern Europe not trust us.

giving every American 5000 would cost more then America has spent on Ukraine the entire war.
Hi, yes, hello. American tax payer here. That $5000 belongs to me and was taken by the gov't. It belongs to me, not people in foreign countries.

Hope this clears things up.

In other news there is a dang lion on the loose in a California neighborhood

somehow im sure this is also trumps fault

edit, they hit it with a tranq dart and it fell asleep at bottom of this bush they cant get it out of

Ver archivo adjunto 7001657Ver archivo adjunto 7001671

LMAOOOO
"you sure its asleep jim?"

"pretty sure"

Ver archivo adjunto 7001677
What political affiliation was this lion? what policy decision lead to it running in a neighborhood? Is the lion a poll worker or campaigning for election? Yet again this is the US POLITICS GENERAL, not the US NEWS. I know its hard for you. But please, please try.

There's no way to make it a middle ground, unfortunately.

If you allow some arbitrary nutrient criteria for EBT, then the only thing that's gonna change is that the manufacturers are going to either shift existing formulas, create a variant of that formula to fit EBT, or lobby as hard as satan himself to make the cutoff so pathetic that it's effectively useless.

Read up on literally every single food rating system in the world, like Australia's star system or the EU's nutri-score, it's gamed to fuck, and makes zero sense.

If you add a tax specifically for EBT on junk food, you both have the same issue as above (although you can just say NOVA 4), then you're actually exposing yourself for discrimination, as it would be seen as a tax specifically discriminating against the poor.

A straight up cutoff at NOVA 3 and saying that EBT are only eligible for NOVA 3 or better, you can't pin it as a tax on the poor, it's an incentive for them to buy healthy food. Much easier to defend in court.

And sure, they won't be able to buy "Healthy UPF" like Whey powder or protein bars or vegan bullshit or whatever, but these things are supposed to be supplements in the first place, so they can still invest in them with their meager salary.
Remember what got Gibson guitars raided?

We have an import system where instead of just buying raw mahogany wood from South Pacific island nations, we have to wait for them to perform some value-added processes before we buy it.

So instead of just getting a shipment of mahogany slats, they have to be like, cut into the rough shape of a Les Paul body.

What we should do is the opposite. EBT/food stamps should be good for eggs, milk, whole vegetables not including clamshells of cut up lettuce, potatoes instead of frozen fries, etc

An old friend on mine from back in the day was ranting on boomerbook about being fired from his IRS job, put a slight smile on my face to be honest. Hope he can find work at least; perhaps manual type to loose the soy-aesthetic look he’s got on his pfp.

Read the thread, at best there's mixed reception here.
It's always funny when someone does a thread drive-by and isn't aware of how much infighting there is. I've disagreed with plenty that I go on to agree with pages later. It's a different thread culture than most on the board.

The welfare system in the US is retarded, like many of the systems in the US government.

"Welfare Cliffs" are some of the most obvious retardation. Example:
Ver archivo adjunto 7001672

Earning more money from a wage shouldn't result in having less money.

After DOGE is done auditing, there should be work done optimizing the incentive structures of government programs. The Democrats shouldn't be allowed to amass an army of welfare slaves. But, corporations shouldn't control people's lives either.

The welfare state is utterly fucked and it's uniquely fucked that people who don't exploit it are "punished" with harsher rules and less and the ones that do are rewarded. It's also a bit of a cramped cricket cage too from dealing with people stuck in the welfare trench in past professions. Your max allowed savings and assets both counted in your household and in the bank at any given time without jumping through lock out hoops is typically 2K and hasn't budged since the 80s or been adjusted at all. It counts stocks and stakes in this total as well. And a lot of physical assets that aren't just time waste luxuries.

You can use a special savings account but it is penalized harder and they can randomly decide none of that money is yours anymore.

So you can't even save properly for out of pocket costs for things your mediocre state by state basis medicaid/medicare coverage doesn't cover like vision and dental. You can't slow burn save for a big move or to buy a cheap house, or to invest it in anything that requires longer term thinking. It does a lot to discourage long term thinking even.

It also counts things that seem absolutely like the edge cases the libs like to call ghoulishly hateful towards poor people, like winning wrongful death suits and malpractice suits and family inheritance against that asset limit with no exemptions. Earned income also counts against the asset limit.

And the term "Spend it down" is repeated in all of the guides and legal advice even for resolving the previous edge cases. And if you're not a shaniqua with 5 kids on retainer EBT calculations count each unearned income dollar against you harder than any other dollar. So someone with zero kids with a fucked apart stack of vertebrae in the system who is an honest injun with their reporting at the current calculations would not qualify for food bucks at all at the current calculation rate of cost of living adjustments by around 2030-2033.

TL;DR: To no one's surprise, the current welfare/SSI/SSDI system encourages you to be a wasteful spend crazy retard who only thinks of the current month at latest. And there's too many carrots for not working and avoiding thinking like a productive person, and too many sticks ready to beat you for working and long term planning if you're able.

There's also zero incentive to report the previously mentioned rule breakers who are often right next door to these people in the low income housing too, since it's viewed as just attracting unwanted attention across the board.

hmm, i don't know, take the deferred layoff with pay and find a new fucking job?
Friendly reminder OPM is the HR entity, and does not guarantee the terms they initially pitched in the initial emails. The money and voluntary leaving aspect has to be approved by your organization. The email stated to reply "resignation" and then email your chain of command about your intent. OPM gets a roster of jobs people don't seem to care about, and your organization can tell you to get back to work until OPM removes your job or RIFs you at no cost for OPM or your agency.

Not that I care about the tranny, but other workers are just getting fucked with no lube, so it isn't as cut an dry as you make it.

I don't think anyone should have kids after age 35 because of personal experience being the kid of older parents.
It sucked seeing other parents doing things with their kids that my parents were too tired and/or apathetic to bother with. Having to explain that yes, those were my parents and not my grandma and grandpa was unpleasant too.
We don't need to go into dealing with the health problems of the elderly and what it does to their kids.

Don't have kids if you're old. Just admire your friends' pictures of their grandkids and call it a day.
FOMO and mild social inconvenience for the kid shouldn't stop people from engaging in one of the greatest purposes their lives.
