Downloading Youtube videos

Need some help you guys. I had been using the website version of Yt5s to download Youtube videos but for the last month I keep getting an error message whenever I try and download a video from there. Can someone tell me of an alternate website that can be used to download YT videos? Or a decent free program that I can install on my computer to download YT videos?

My only niggle is that more and more I have to download the audio and video separately then mux them together afterward.

It's becoming nearly impossible to download videos from YouTube without ffmpeg as well. But YouTube is currently working on ways to block anyone from downloading or archiving videos easily. It's at the point where most websites that offered downloadable YouTube videos are now dead and abandoned. And the average user is being locked out from saving data from the internet.

All of the download sites use some flavor of yt-dlp in the background. This was easy to see when they broke the age-gate bypass (I think it was pretending to be an Android TV client maybe? I read that all videos on YouTube apps on TVs need sign in now or something) Pretty sure yt-dlp is built on their own customised version of ffmpeg anyway, but tailored to downloading/parsing the streams/DASH format crap. Having ffmpeg installed standalone on your system just gets called at the end of the download and stitches the files together I think.
They also massively ramped up rate limiting, so any of those sites are going to be crippled if they even come close to the amount they were previously downloading. Public Invidious instances are being assfucked too from what I see.
