Basically, the Dems threw ALL their political clout into winning the 2020 election, banking on Trump refusing to resign power and having the casus belli to declare MAGA outright terrorism. By banking on one decisive victory, they caused the very thing they tried to prevent with their plan and lost bigly.

The UK is 1/5 the size of the USA (population-wise) yet we have 650 MPs. (The equivalent of your House representatives.) So it definitely seems like you should have more than just 435.

A number over 435 seems reasonable.. but some kind of cap also seems necessary. I'm not sure where the balancing point would be, but like, 5k-10k seems like it would be unwieldy, but around 1000 could still be manageable.

That sort of a government body works better with a smaller population than a larger one. because that makes it easier to get a higher representative to citizen ratio without requiring a sportsball stadium and then have to negotiate how to manage the time fairly so that the representatives can bring up relevant issues of their constituents.

I am not sure how much actual discussion happens versus just phoning it in of course, but in theory that seems like it would be a boon.
