The particular charge against Nick is not a crime that has actual victims. The complainant is the state itself. So in standard Technikieta style, there are no actual victims. He hasn't been charged with a crime that requires a victim. So since actually having a victim isn't an element of any criminal count against him, he can claim not to have any victims of his crimes, even though people of normal intelligence obviously can understand that he actually does have victims. His entire family.
